moviejoe79 Posted April 8, 2004 Share Posted April 8, 2004 Prof - Just to let you know - Joan Fontaine lives in Carmel, California, and is also somewhat of a recluse like her sister Olivia. In fact, I haven't heard or seen anything from her in years. The last time I saw something in the paper about her was like five or so years ago when the N.Y. Daily News referred to her as being dead, and she contacted them to say that she's still alive - it's sad really, but that's what happens when you totally shut yourself out of the public. She didn't even bother to come to the reunion of past Oscar winners that the Academy has had twice now. One thing I can say in her favor is that she does sign photos through the mail. brackenhe Posted April 9, 2004 Share Posted April 9, 2004 Speaking of Joan Fontaine, I have a friend that corresponded with her for some time (I don't know that he still does.) But he has an autographed picture of her featured prominently in his home. He is in theater & he used to say any entertainment idea he had that, by coincidence, would be on tv or in a movie, he would blame Joan for stealing it. That used to crack me up.
