By the way, was it *The Purple Gang* or that TV biopic about that guy John List?

Sorry, no, not "The Purple Gang" (1959) and not "Judgment Day" (1993).

Maybe one more clue is called for.

Here's one: One of the taglines for this movie was:

"The screen's supreme adventure in suspense!"

Here's the quote again, in case you've forgotten:

*"The various legal categories such as first and second degree murder, the various degrees of homicide, manslaughter, are civilized recognitions of impulses of various degrees of culpability."*

Who said that line, and in what famous movie?

Cheers,

Dan

Revolt In The Big House ?

Sorry, no.

I thought sure that last clue I gave you would lead you right to the correct film title. You can Google it, and it will take you right there.

The correct film title is:

*"The Woman in the Window"* (1944).

cmvqor, why don't you take over now?

Cheers,

Dan

Re: Woman In The Window, I don't think I've ever seen it, and it looks like my Googeling skills

aren't what they should be. I was about to start slogging through the "Joe Dancer" sites, in spite

of the fact that they are TV movies.

Anyway, a line of more recent vintage:

"I don't think you're paranoid. I think its the opposite of paranoia. I think you go around with the insane delusion that people like you."

Who, to whom, what film?

Okay, been long enough.

Answer: Spencer Tracy to Irene Dunne in A GUY NAMED JOE (1943)

Try this one:

"If things aren't funny then they're exactly what they are; and then they're like a long dental appointment."

To revive the thread:

> "Before I started ridin' with you, I was never in any jail long enough to soften up a chaw of

> tobacca."

...That was a speech by Will Geer to Dean Martin in Bandolero!

Try this one:

"Don't try to get on my good side, Truvy. I no longer have one!"

Try this:

"I was taught to desire nothing, to swallow other people's misery, and to eat my own bitterness. And even though I taught my daughter the opposite, still she came out the same way."?

"I was taught to desire nothing, to swallow other people's misery, and to eat my own bitterness. And even though I taught my daughter the opposite, still she came out the same way."

That's from "The Joy Luck Club" (1993).

Okay for you.

There's this one:

"He'll buy that boat from that stupid boat catalog he's been making me look at for the last two months, and he will crash that boat off Catalina Island, and he will drown and die and seals will eat him."
