TheBlackbird
Tomorrow morning at 6: check it out to see clips from numerous MGM silent comedies, including THE CAMERAMAN, THE BOOB, DETECTIVES and CHINA BOUND...
Factotum
If these films still exist, why is it that probably never, anytime or place has a Dane & Arthur film ever been televised? Are they that bad?
TheBlackbird
I'll be starting a thread on these two, but for here I'll agree it would be nice to see their films!
MissGulch
...very nice scoring with these comedy clips and lots of kazoo(s) in the orchestration...
scottman1932
I know that CHINA BOUND (1929) survives (I think that it may even still have all of its "vitaphone" discs). I believe that ROOKIES (1928) the first of the Dane /Arthur films survives as well. CIRCUS ROOKIES (1928) I think is lost.
TheBlackbird
That is good news about CHINA BOUND's survival. Regarding the other six Dane-Arthur features, my understanding is that CIRCUS ROOKIES and BABY MINE are lost, while I can confirm ROOKIES, DETECTIVES and BROTHERLY LOVE all survive. ALL AT SEA apparently exists, but is "incomplete..."
