hamradio
You left out "Tin Man - 2007" in the list. It is a weird dark retelling od the Wizard of Oz.
kennethlawson
I would consider Tin Man, a take off form the original story, take the basic story in a new darker direction, not a direct retelling of the original story. I though it was very good...

hamradio
The first photo is an early attempt to "colorize" movies using a technique called hand tinting aka "Radio Play". Few other silents used this process. The second photo made in 1910, I got it on VHS - I like it because the child is of the right age, not a "high schooler". The 4rd one starred Oliver Hardy - a fat tin man, I would never would have thought of that. LOL ! Footnote: Laurel and Hardy made SILENTS also - that's another group of films TCM needs to get retreived and shown !

hamradio
Heres some stuff for your collection, "The Turkish Wizard of Oz". Check it out at http://www.dareland.com/turkishwizard.htm (critical review) If you like to go all out and ACTUALLY BUY it:http://5mtl.com/2D/turkishwizard.htm Tin Man at the Cemetary: http://img1.nnm.ru/imagez/gallery/doci/sma/smaikls-1161112220_i_8053_full.jpg The Shocking footage you were never meant to see (cartoon blog) http://seemikedraw.wordpress.com/2007/08/06/the-shocking-scene-you-were-never-meant-to-see/
Metropolisforever
Ayşecik ve Sihirli C?celer R?yalar ?lkesinde (The Turkish Wizard of Oz) was one of the late films of a cycle of nearly forty films featuring Zeynep Değirmencioğlu. These films were all Turkish remakes of American films.
hamradio
I wonder if anyone have seen it? Is it the worst turkey since Attack of the Killer Tomatoes or is it as the ad claimed "the most amazing remake ever". Maybe the answer can be posted on the "worst poo ever made" or one of the "remake" threads. The soldiers looks like a scene from "March of the Toy Soldiers". And I thought Sci-Fi's "Tin Man" was strange ! How did you like the cemetary photo and cartoon? The cartoon is hilarious ! I think I know where "courage" is ! LOL ! Metropolisforever
A little trivia: The Fairylogue and Radio-Plays was the first feature-length American film. It runs for two hours - an astonishing length by 1908 standards.
butterscotchgreer
uh i could never live without the wizard of oz! the judy garland version is beyond the best version i have ever seen! i have seen the "tin man" series and they totally ruined the whole concept of the wizard of oz. i guess it was imaginative, but they totally changed the whole plot and everything in between. i have seen also all the other ones that tried to take its place.
