Immortal Battalion vs. The Way Ahead

These are the same films, different names. I'm not sure why. Niven givens a speech to the rookie troops, recalling the history of that battalion. It makes the English title "Immortal Battalion" seem more sensible. I'm not sure where "The Way Ahead" came from or why the English title was discarded. Was there some belief that American theater employees didn't know how to arrange characters properly to spell multi-syllable words? Was there a short of the letters "M", "T", "A" or "I"?

Is anyone aware of scene differences between the English version that TCM's showing ("The Immortal Battalion") and the Region-1 DVD on sale ("The Way Ahead")?
