joyful
Can anyone give me the lyrics to "Goodbye My Lady Love" as sung in Showboat with Irene Dunne? It's just a few words I couldn't get (just enough to drive me crazy!) Thanks in advance.
FredCDobbs
Very hard to find. Is this it? Goodbye, My Lady Love (Words & Music by Joseph E. Howard) FRANK So you're going away Because your heart has gone astray. And you promised me That you would always faithful be. But if you must go, Remember, dear, I love you so. Sure as stars do shine, You'll think of when I called you mine. FRANK & ELLIE Goodbye, my lady love, Farewell, my turtle dove, You are the idol and darling of my heart, But someday you will come back to me, And love me tenderly, So goodbye my lady love, goodbye! (FRANK and ELLIE dance to the music of "At a Georgia Camp Meeting") (Music by Kerry Mills) FRANK & ELLIE Goodbye, my lady love, Farewell, my turtle dove, You are the idol and darling of my heart, But someday you will come back to me, And love me tenderly, So goodbye my lady love, goodbye! joyful
Fred - Yes, those are the words. Thanks so very, very much. I've been going around for a few days humming the melody and the words that I did remember. Yes, they are very hard to find. I really appreciate your research. Now I can sing the words - just can't sing any better! Thanks again, Joy
