cjrogan2003
There were actually three sequels: Daughters Courageous and Four Wives, released in 1939, and Four Mothers, released in 1941. Four Daughters' cast is an all-star Warner Brothers film: Priscilla, Rosemary and Lola Lane, Gale Page, Claude Rains, Jeffrey Lynn, a young John Garfield, Dick Foran and Frank McHugh. BTW, has anyone seen Swingtime in the Movies, a 1938 Technicolor short with cameos from Humphrey Bogart, George Brent, the Bowery Boys, John Garfield, Priscilla and Rosemary Lane and Pat O'Brien? I LOVE the segment with the waitresses "Swinging Through the Kitchen Door"!
coffeedan1927
No, there were just two sequels. Although DAUGHTERS COURAGEOUS reunited the principals from FOUR DAUGHTERS, the story had nothing to do with the Lemp family saga that was further told in FOUR WIVES (1939) and FOUR MOTHERS (1941). DAUGHTERS COURAGEOUS told the story of a man (Claude Rains) who came back to his family after a 20-year absence. Aunt Etta was played in those films by May Robson, a grand old character actress who enlivened more films than I could possibly list here. Some of her most memorable roles were Apple Annie in LADY FOR A DAY (1933), Grandmother Lettie in the 1937 A STAR IS BORN, and Katharine Hepburn's dotty aunt Mrs. Carleton Random in BRINGING UP BABY (1938). cjrogan2003
I'd like to refute my comment about "Swinging Through the Kitchen Door". I hate it, and if that musical short comes on, I want to go out and burn every copy of that print left.

cjrogan2003
Because I got tired of it after 15 times of watching it. And besides, I'm not that big into swing music anyway. As I've noted before, I like the artists from 1946 on, from Frankie Laine to Johnnie Ray to Elvis to the Beatles to Twisted Sister to Rick Astley to Mariah Carey.
