MissWatusi
I saw this movie back in the 60's when it was first released. Of course, I was a child, but thought it was hilarious. I saw it a few weeks ago on some obscure channel and it was ok, but not quite as funny. It has a cute plot..
OllieTSB
It was put out on VHS but went out of print fairly quickly, so it's a rarity now. I've presumed that it's not available on DVD because the cast is too full of unknowns - that Jack Lemmon guy never amounted to much. And Edward G. Robinson - who can ever remember what he did? Mike Connors, another nobody. Dorothy Provine is probably still standing at a park's water fountain. Romy Schneider, Edward Andrews. It's got no star-power, no recognizable names. It's probably wise to avoid putting this on DVD. Who'd ever be interested in any of these actors' films? Charles Lane's 347 credits don't really count, after all. CineMaven
I remember seeing it on tv back in the 60's. I remember thinking Romy Schneider was a knock-out. Didn't Jack Lemmon have to eat two dinners the same nite??
scsu1975
I remember Romy Schneider too ... that's about all.
redriver
Cute little comedy. No big deal. The title reminds me of GOOD SAM, with Gary Cooper. Which, come to think of it, is also not that good!
Hibi
I saw it as a kid many years ago and liked it. That one seems to have slipped through the cracks and I never see it on tv. It was shown on the networks way back. I've been hoping it would turn up on TCM since they purchased the rights to many Columbia films, but so far no go.I would like to see it again. They've shown Yum Yum Tree which was made around the same time from Columbia. Odd.
Buffalo_Chuck
I've always enjoyed it. Edward G. Robinson striking fear into all before him. Romy and Jack running around, painting mustaches on all the poster work, Dorothy Provine trying to understand it all. I'm disappointed this hasn't received much air-play, but I'm hoping for lits DVD release.
CelluloidKid
Good Neighbor Sam is a 1964 comedy film co-written and directed by David Swift and starring Jack Lemmon. It was based on the novel by Jack Finney. Other writers included James Fritzell and Everett Greenbaum. I'm I correct??
