More Joyce Carey in Noel Coward

Blithe Spirit (1945)

In Which We Serve (1942)

Edited by Swithin
Noticed that Princess already mentioned The Astonished Heart, so I changed my second film to In Which We Serve, which also features Coward's great friend Joyce Carey, who appeared in so many of his plays and films.

Swith-- I just watched

"The Astonished Heart" last week.

Noel was so good that I think the movie deserved two mentions.

Princess, I first saw The Astonished Heart at a Noel Coward film festival in London a few years ago. Fascinating and unusual film. It's based -- as you may know -- on one of the short plays in Noel's series Tonight at 8:30, which also included Still Life, which became the film brief Brief Encounter. A few of the other ten short plays in the series (which were performed three a night) became films as well.
