directcurrent
I have seen The Orson Well verision, and the New one with (can't remember his name). But in my walk through Wal-mark, I saw a War of the Worlds movie that was done back in the days of top hats, over coats, and in between horse & buggy and Cars. Kind of like the movie the first "TIme Machine" days type movie. Has anyone seen this movie or Know of the where abouts of a copy of this or the name and who produced it? scsu1975
This might be the version you're thinking of: http://imdb.com/title/tt0046534/
OllieTSB
I wonder if DC is thinking of THINGS TO COME? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0028358/ Not really TIME MACHINE or WAR OF THE WORLDS, but sort of an odd mix of each for this rare film. joefilmone
I've never seen a period adaptation of " War of the Worlds" in both cases the time was updated to the present time; unless its an animated film.
directcurrent
I don't think so, I have never hear of things to come, may have to go back and look this one up, but no. the front cover showed the pods as in the new one but slitly differnt appearance and the car and horse & buggy in the forground. Buffalo_Chuck
"...the front cover showed..." Ah yes, always a great idea. Judge a book by the cover. And everyone knows movie posters are 100% accurate and always reflect exactly what the film is about.
scsu1975
Maybe it was from a book cover. Try here: http://drzeus.best.vwh.net/wotw/
OllieTSB
Those are terrific illustrations. The older the drawings, the more faithful to HG's description - the legs, the arms. But they're all terrific. I was looking at the latest DVD cover for THINGS TO COME, which is apparently being readied for re-release or re-issue, and it's a quite different cover (showing buildings, or some skyline) than the much older DVD I have (yellow with faces of Raymond Massey and a few others sketched on it). Neither cover illustration gives me a full understanding of that film, but that's typical.
