marychris
But The Good Old Summertime is on today, Christmas Eve. Nice going, TCM.
markfp2
It's been mentioned many times that TCM simply can't just say "let's run a certain film" and then do it. It involves negotiating for the broadcast rights and in some cases bidding against other channels, sometimes years in advance. A lot of times, for whatever reason, a film is simply not available. It doesn't matter that it may be out on DVD, those rights are entirely different. I haven't seen the Alastair Sim version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL listed on any channel so it makes me think it wasn't released to TV this year. My guess, and it's only a guess, is that it's being held back because the film has had a restoration and was recently rereleased on DVD. Perhaps this was done to encourage sales. I don't know if you ever buy movies, but this one is well worth getting on DVD. Merry Christmas!

marychris
Ok, I'll buy that, but can they say let's not run a summertime movie on Christmas Day?
sandykaypax
Have you ever seen IN THE GOOD OLD SUMMERTIME all the way through? Despite the title, most of the film actually takes place at Christmastime. It's a musical remake of THE SHOP AROUND THE CORNER. Sandy K
