LawrenceA
The Mysterians This is another Japanese science fiction film from Ishiro Honda (Godzilla, Rodan). It involves an alien race from the planet Mysteriod, which used to exist between Mars and Jupiter, but was destroyed in a nuclear war. The Mysterians demand land to live on and Earth women to breed with, and they employ a giant robot to try and intimidate the peoples of the world into submission. It's all very silly, but fun and visually engaging like many of Honda's films. It was shot in full color and anamorphic widescreen, one of the first Japanese genre films to do so. It later inspired the band name ? and the Mysterians, who had a hit in 1966 with "96 Tears". 2

Arsan404
El Ultimo Cuplé. Juan de Orduña. Spain. Musical Drama. Sara Montiel, Armando Calvo. A famous singer falls in love with a bullfighter and becomes penniless. Her former agent finds her and wants to help her back on her feet. Well made musical melodrama, made shortly after Sara Montiel returned to Spain after making movies in Mexico and the US. It was a smash hit, a classic today.

Bogie56
The Confessions of Felix Krull by Kurt Hoffman is a lightweight comedy about a young man who hops from bed to bed and position to position conning his way up the ladder. It was an opportunity to see a young Horst Buchholz act in his native German, pre his foray into American films with The Magnificent Seven and One, Two, Three. 2
Bogie56
Gillo Pontecorvo's The Wide Blue Road starring Yves Montand and Alida Valli is worth trying to track down IMO. The plot has a poor fisherman who in trying to provide for a young family breaks the rules and uses bombs instead of nets. As one can imagine this brings trouble. The style of the film reminded me a bit of Visconti's La Terra Trema (1948).
