cinemaspeak59
I liked the English actresses from the 1930s and 1940s. So, either Valerie Hobson, Heather Angel, or Madeline Carroll.
Sukhov
If we can include non-studio era actresses I'd also include Sheryl Lee from Twin Peaks.

speedracer5
I apparently already answered this thread awhile back with my boy Errol. He’s still one of my choices but I’m throwing these other names in the ring: James Darren John Derek Ricky Nelson Jim Morrison Luke Perry out of all my choices, James Darren is still kicking it. He’s only 48 years older than me. Lol.
TheGrandMaster
Audrey Hepburn! So beautiful and kind. Deborah Kerr also seemed like excellent wife material.

Of course to some that might just be excellent wife material!
Dargo
Thelma Ritter. (...oh wait...I already offered up this joke earlier in this old thread, didn't I) In that case and in all seriousness, Myrna Loy. I mean, she did often play the perfect wife to guys like William Powell, Clark Gable, Fredric March and Cary Grant in a lot of movies back in the day, didn't she? And if she was good enough for THEM, she's good enough for ME! (...and besides, I've always loved that little turned-up nose of hers and that little lilt in her voice)

Since I like variety, I'm going to go with any of Mickey Rooney's Exs.

Yea, Mickey had 8 wife's (divorced 6, and one was killed) so there is a lot to choose from. But yea, #1 and#3 are my favorites!

mthorebcubfan
Irene Dunne. The last scene in The Awful Truth sealed it.
Princess of Tap
My first choice would be Toshiro Mifune-- A diverse actor and a humble human being. But if he wasn't available, I think I would be just as satisfied with any of the next 6: 1) Leslie Howard 2) Al Pacino 3) William Holden 4) Sidney Poitier 5) Richard Widmark 6) Oskar Werner They're completely legendary, great actors and after all, who wants the same salad dressing every night? Paulll
Because I am attracted to both men and women, I would also say Cary Grant💙❤. Very handsome, he was.
OHTCMFanGal
Oh how I love threads with these types of lists! Here are my picks : ❤ • Harold Lloyd : One of the most influential actors of the silent film era and a man who stayed married to his beloved bride Mildred Davis til her death in 1969. • Douglas Fairbanks : As a fan of Mary Pickford and classic film fan I'm aware of who Douglas Fairbanks is though I can't say I've seen any of his films! • John Garfield : Before Montgomery Clift and Marlon Brando, James Dean and Paul Newman there was only one John Garfield. Enough said. • Paul Newman : What a magnificent actor and beautiful man. I always watch TCM but when a Paul Newman film is on that's not Cool Hand Luke or Cat On A Hot Tin Roof I watch. Nothing wrong with these films I'm just not into those pictures. • James Stewart : There was no other actor in the 30's and 40's who portrayed the all-American man quite like Jimmy Stewart. I love his films : You Can't Take It With You, Mr. Smith Goes To Washington, It's A Wonderful Life, The Shop Around The Corner.
