I was at the Marlborough screening of Treasure of the Sierra Madre this past Sunday and I saw so many faces there, I wanted to reach out to each and every one to ask if they wanted to form a local chapter.  But on second though....just a tad bit strange.  I'm not the creepy type, but I do want to reach out and connect.

C'mon.  I know there are some more locals out here that love movies as much as I do.

Hi Teresa -

I live near Hartford and am always looking for someone with whom to go to the movies. I think, though, that we're probably more than an hour away from each other.

I'm in Los Angeles and just finished my first year at the TCM Film Festival; what a blast! I'll be coming back next year (the 10th anniversary of the fest and TCM's 25th anniversary). It's so much fun and worth it if you can get the time off and afford it. I recommend saving your $$$ so you can get a Spotlight Pass--it gets you into everything and with preferential treatment.

I can't believe there's no one else in this area who's a Backlot member. Color me perplexed.

Hello all,

I can concur with this statement. When I first joined Backlot the closest was the NYC chapter. I am currently living near New London (my husband is stationed at the Naval Base) and honestly thought maybe New Haven or even Providence would have a chapter. When I saw there were none I was a little shocked, but then again I thought maybe Backlot is just really getting its groove. (I try to think the half-full corner. I mean I noticed new chapter popping up since I joined.) Of course the problem I have is traveling; it is difficult for me to travel places that I cannot use public transportation or an Uber. (Terrified of driving)

Hi! I am a Backlot member from Rhode Island. I live close to the Massachusetts border, where the Showcase Cinemas in Seekonk, MA often show monthly TCM films. I would love to join or start an area Backlot Chapter.  Seems like there's a bit of distance between those Backlot members who have expressed same interest on this forum.

It looks like there are enough people in the forum to start a group. I live in the Hartford area and would be willing to help with the group. Unfortunately, my time is somewhat limited since i am an eye doctor and radio DJ at Trinity College. Let me know if we can put something together.

Hi all- I am in Central Mass Worcester area and definitely interested in joining/starting a chapter. Any thoughts of creating a central space (Facebook?) for us to organize?

Updated Post: Here is what I am going to suggest: Any/all interested parties are welcome to meet me at the April Big Screen Classics in Bellingham on Sunday 4/14 at 1pm. I will be waiting in the lobby starting at 12:15 with a red carnation (a la Shop Around the Corner). I am not on Twitter, so please reach out to potential members above on my behalf, and hopefully if we will gain momentum and get a chapter off the ground.556509336_BenHurApril.thumb.JPG.bfb60e76a69c183fa1d9d98894f2df3a.JPG

Hello Everyone in New England!

I realize most of your posts were written in 2018 but I just signed up here and figured what better way to find a New England or Massachusetts chapter of Backlot. I'm 5 miles west of Plymouth MA in Carver. I do spend about 6 months in southern Maine but go back and forth, so am flexible with regard to location. I've been dying to go to the TCM event in LA but have no one to go with. I have been hooked on TCM for years and would be very excited to get involved!! Anyone still out there?

Sincerely Sara

Thank you, Teresa, for starting the conversation. I am in central CT and travel to Massachusetts and would like to join a new TCM chapter. I am hoping to gather new fans to see LAWRENCE OF ARABIA when it screens in theaters in September 2019. I also like seeing films at Real Art Ways and Cinestudio in Hartford, and Cinemark in North Haven. I saw NEVER LOOK AWAY, amazing German film, at Real Art Ways in March and would have loved to talk about it with someone. What are some of your favorite theaters around CT and Massachusetts? Let's movie!  Donna in Southington
