classickay
What was TCM thinking? I saw the last 3/4 of "The Warriors". It has to be one of the top 5 worst movies I've ever seen. It's total crap. Not only was most of the acting really bad, but there were so many cliches in the movie it was funny. In the bathroom fight scene I was able to predict what was going to be smashed next. Just because a director has a couple movies that were popular doesn't mean everything he ever did is wonderful or a classic movie. Aliens would have been a better choice. Please, spare us from anymore of these bad movies. Those in charge of programing can rest assured, I feel ashamed for you.
joefilmone
" The Warriors" has a strong cult following which is probably why TCM ran it. Walter Hill directed the superior " Southern Confort"
webestang
I saw this film at a midnight showing one time....I liked it....it has great use of color and the soundtrack is stunning. BTW....Entertainment Weekly named The Warriors the 16th greatest cult film on their "Top 50 Greatest Cult Films" list.
kimpunkrock
The Warriors is a TCM Underground movie. It is one of the biggest cult films in the country. I agree that it is not that great of a movie, but it is huge in the underground punk and hardcore music scene. I should like the movie, since I am a punker, but it really is not all that. It only is a legendary punk rock film.
Arkadin
As for what TCM was thinking, I'm guessing that they thought it was a film that Underground fans would enjoy--and they're right! http://forums.tcm.com/jive/tcm/thread.jspa?threadID=120471&tstart=
