EthelMay2008
I am glad that this thread started. I saw this film yesterday and was wondering if John Garfield actually played the violin. Unless it was the expert camera angle, but it appeared like he was playing the piece from Carmen. Someone please help me. Thanks.
scsu1975
I believe Isaac Stern played the violin music.
rainingviolets21
I love the music in this film so much , I recorded all the music on an audio cassette that I play in my car. I like also the Oscar Levant- Gershwin piece he played at the party.
CelluloidKid
Franz Waxman orchestrated and conducted the music score which features music by Anton?n Dvor?k and Richard Wagner. Other musical pieces include Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's Flight of the Bumble Bee, Bizet's Carmen , Edouard Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole (Spanish Symphonie for violin and orchestra in D minor - op. 21). ChelseaRialtoStudios
Columbia Records issued a 78rpm 12" album featuring Waxman conducting and Issac Stern doing solo in the selections from HUMORESQUE. The album was also pressed as a 10" LP. Waxman composed the score cues (adapting the classical motifs) and arranged the pieces; orchestrations were done by Leonid Raab (Waxman's orchestrator for 20 years).
