cmvgor
This movie that I saw only in bits and pieces was on one of the premium channels at some point in the last four or five years. Perhaps Italian, perhaps Greek; subtiled. Two people stranded on an island (I think in the Medeterrenan). An aristocratic woman, a common seaman. There are politics involved; the sailor is a Marxist with attitude. If this sounds familiar, I'd like to know the title. It was never on at a time when I could give it full attention. Thanks for any help anyone can give.
Terry_W
There is a Madonna remake to be avoided at all costs. The Koch Lorber DVD is sparse but well done as is, of course, the Criterion Laser. If you see any of the Fox Lorber DVDs just pass them up. -- Terry Wallace
laffite
One of the most erotic movies I've ever seen, maybe the most. I wouldn't touch this new version.
lydia221
Swept Away is actually a remake. The original story comes from a play, The Admirable Crichton, by J.M. Barrie (yes, the same man who wrote Peter Pan ). There are two film versions with the same title as the play (1918 and 1957), and one by Cecil B. DeMille from 1919, called Male and Female, starring Thomas Meighan and Gloria Swanson. The latter has been shown on TCM and is available on dvd.
