texasoperastar
I think Deanna Durbin's movies are a great example of Romantic Comedies. I certainly wish that TCM would show more of her performances. Deanna at one stage was the highest paid actress in the world and the favorite actress of Winston Churchill. Her best works in the RC genere include: FIRST LOVE (1939) IT'S A DATE (1940) SPRING PARADE (1940) NICE GIRL (1941) IT STARTED WITH EVE (1941) There's also a great tribute site for Deanna Durbin with heaps of information about all her wonderful movies: www.deannadurbin.org
mrroberts
I remember seeing "It Started With Eve" many years ago. Charles Laughton was very funny in that picture.
precoder
Deanna made her films at Universal her whole career, so I'm not sure you will see those broadcast on TCM. It's a shame too that more people don't get to see how utterly wonderful Deanna Durbin was. Not just her, but how delightful those movies were. Top tier entertainment those movies are ... Joe Pasternak was a genius ... Edited by: precoder on Jan 3, 2010 6:59 PM
