FrankGrimes
Hi, CineBaby -- By the by...looking at an old vhs tape of mine of "Dead Man's Eyes" and Acquanetta is gorgeous!! What does this have to do with color??? Hey...I'm talking of Acquanetta. AcQUAnetta! I love it! Hey, DSClassic -- I like The Color Purple and The Pink Panther. Deep Red, eh? Giallo definitely applies to this thread of yours. I really need to watch Kieslowski's "Color" trilogy. Pink Flamingos is an interesting choice. Do they dance in the film? Hola, Visualfeast -- I just watched Blue Velvet for the very first time last weekend. I liked it a lot. Nice choice. Howdy, ButterscotchGREER (or is that green? ) -- I like your list! The Blue Gardenia! Ahhh, Blue Skies. Hi, Miss Loather -- A Clockwork Orange (I loathe this film) I thought the thread was about favorites. Do you loathe your favorites? I LOVE your selection, though. What exquisite taste you possess. Orange and Yellow are my favorite colors. Wolf whistle! My FAVORITE movie with a color in the title is this one: There is only one scarlet in film history and that's it right there. Come to think of it, I can't even think of another scarlet that really matters. But then again, I'm new to classic film.

MissGoddess
Why is Red River a favorite? Maybe you could explain that one day. One fine day.
FrankGrimes
Why is Red River a favorite? Maybe you could explain that one day. One fine day. I didn't know that you cared so much, Blondie. I did talk a little bit about my reasons for why I liked Red River on a certain persnickety poster's thread (look for the caps): http://forums.tcm.com/jive/tcm/thread.jspa?threadID=116313&start=90&tstart=0 By the way, is "blonde" a color? Why, yes, it can be. Here's another favorite of mine because it features ONE of my favorite blondes (not MY favorite, though) and it's a spoof of The 39 Steps. MissGoddess
You only described the relationship between Dunston and the girl he left behind. I'm going to Tiffany's to calm down.
FrankGrimes
You only described the relationship between Dunston and the girl he left behind. I also said that it's a very good "father/son" western. So you want more, huh? Let's see, should I talk about Red River or My Darling Clementine or The Shop Around the Corner or The Misfits or The Fountainhead or Morocco or They Came to Cordura or The General Died at Dawn or Return to Paradise or Gone... I guess I could focus on Red River. I know Red River is a HUGE favorite of yours because you just LOVE the female characters in the film. I'm going to Tiffany's to calm down. Yes, please do, Holly GoLoudly. Here's a film noir with a color in the title that I like.
ChiO
*The Black Book* (aka Reign of Terror) *Slightly Scarlet* *Silver Lode* It is purely coincidental that those films had the same cinematographer.
FrankGrimes
The Black Book (aka Reign of Terror) I figured it was only a matter of time, ChiO. I still have to watch The Black Book. I still have to watch A LOT. Steady as she doesn't go.
dsclassic
Hey Frank Have you seen Deep Red Or any Giallo Or Giallatin ?
FrankGrimes
Hi, DSClassic -- Have you seen Deep Red Or any Giallo No, I haven't seen Deep Red. It's one of my brother's favorite Argento films, though. I've seen Suspiria, Blood and Black Lace (color title and a pretty decent film), and Hatchet for the Honeymoon. My brother is a big Argento film. I haven't explored his films yet. Argento loves buckets of blood.
dsclassic
Hey FrankGrimes Actually there are 2 Argento movies no overly gory 1-Cat O Nine Tails 2-The Bird with the Crystal Plumage - I love this movie almost as much as Deep Red Deep Red he really let the gore loose and his movies tended to get gorier... By the 1990s his Giallo wasnt as good and I will say his recent stuff has been nothing short of poop I like Suspiria, Opera and Tenebre in addition to the ones I named above And Four Flies and Grey Velvet as well Like most directors, I dont like every single movie, but in this case I like several.. He is referred to as the Italian Hitchcock.. Bird with Crystal Plumage and Deep Red I like better than a lot of Hitchcock movies save for maybe Psycho, Birds, North by Northwest, maybe Rear Window... FrankGrimes
What's up, DSClassic? -- Deep Red he really let the gore loose and his movies tended to get gorier... I've seen some scenes from Deep Red and it's quite violent. And Four Flies and Grey Velvet as well That's the Argento film my brother wants to see the most. It's yet another "color" film. Dario loves to utilize color in his films. He's very artistic. He is referred to as the Italian Hitchcock.. I find this quote from Hitch to be very funny: From IMDb: About Dario Argento and his film Profondo Rosso (1975), "This young Italian guy is starting to worry me." CineMaven
dsc...I had a slip of the finger. You're right...BAD is not a color. May I make up for my mistake by citing: "The YELLOW Rolls Royce" old Eagle Eyes?

FrankGrimes
Hey, DSClassic -- Frank, out of all the males in this forum I really enjoy chatting with you the most..you're comments are always welcome..I sincerely mean that... Thanks, Giallo. That's very lofty praise. I appreciate it. I love attempting to guess your interesting tastes in film. It's quite a challenge. You're arguably the biggest film watcher on the board right now. You just plow through title after title. You truly put me to shame. But then again, that ain't hard to do. As for the women, the cooper girls, missgoddess and Cinemaven are all aces to me too... CineMaven for sure. She's the most liveliest gal in town. Cooper Girls? Meh. One cries all the doggone time, another obsesses over chest hair and britches all the livelong day, and the other spends all her time fixing her curtains and cleaning her room. Pretty they ain't. My biggest fear is that they all get together and go watch a Gary Cooper film on the big screen. The thought of such a thing is horrifying. And who was the other again? Burrrrrr! Did it just get chilly in here? It's like a cat with cold shoulders just walked over my grave. FrankGrimes, you have recommended many movies to me, I really have to return the favor Do me a favor: See Deep Red , Bird with Crystal Plumage, Cat O Nine Tails Thanks for the suggestion. I'll definitely get around to an Argento festival. My brother is the one with the Argento DVDs. I've just started another "A" frostival, I mean, festival. So far, I have found myself thinking, "I can't believe anyone would think these films are that great." It's been disappointing to date. Have you watched any Mario Bava films? I will also recommend these to you Whatever Happened to Solange Who Saw Her Die The Strange Vice of Mrs Wardh The Case of the Bloody Iris That's an interesting mix of Giallos. I had not heard of any of them. You may be getting me in serious trouble with these suggestions, too, since these films are about psychos. I will also recommend the 2007 Zodiac , very enjoyable My brother saw this film twice in the theater. He liked it more the second time than the first. I've heard good things about the film. My favorite comment about the film was that it's a little similar to All the President's Men, which is a film that I really like.
