jattok
The Warner Baxter version is apparently lost. The Alan Ladd version languishes in the Universal Vaults. Robert Redford's is not played that often. Question - does Universal hold ALL of Ladd/Lake entries? Is copyright the issue or just not good marketing. visualfeast
I wish I knew. The second in the Gatsby efforts was by far the best...the Ladd veresion. He had just the right amount of fierceness modulated by just the right amount of apathy. His detached quality made him perfect for the role. And Betty Field as Daisy Buchannan, Ruth Hussey as Jordan Baker and Macdonald Carey as Buchannan were excellent choices . The film deserves to be seen again.
jattok
I found it on e-Bay DVD from the U.K. Not the greatest "remastered" film but a VHS turned DVD. Great to see again. I remember it on the "BIG" screen when I was "knee high to a grasshopper"
