misswonderly3
Fun video, casablancalover. I love that green suit, and the giant coloured shapes on the set (reminding me of those wooden blocks for little kids.) The song was pretty darn good too. misswonderly3
An early Who tune, that captures my mood these days: Catchy little song.
JamesJazGuitar
My first guess is that the song would be I Can't Explain, but the song you did post is a good fit also!
DownGoesFrazier
My guess would have been "My Ge-Generation"
misswonderly3
I guess either of those other Who tunes would have done. But "So Sad About Us" is so pretty. As well as sad. Hey, Santa Claus - listen to those Moonglows. (Edit: for reasons unknown, the "video" continues for almost a full minute after the song ends. I waited all through this extra minute to see if anything else happened, but nothing did. Maybe we're supposed to use that 60 seconds or so to contemplate whether Santa Claus accedes to the Moonglows' request. Anyway, just in case you're thinking you're going to get something else after the song ends (like an out-take after the credits end in a movie), I reassure y'all, you're not going to miss anything. Turn 'er off at the 2:28 mark.) Edited by: misswonderly on Dec 13, 2013 2:13 PM
DownGoesFrazier
Incidentally, the Moonglows at one time included a backup singer named Marvin Gaye.
misswonderly3
Hey, I didn't know that ! Mercy me ! ' T'is quite cold in Ontario today- well below zero, whether you're talking Celsius or Farenheit. Here are Billie Holiday and Dean Martin, who've got their love to keep them warm (but not for each other...they both just happen to sing the same song.) Cast your vote on which version you like better. Billie sounds kind of sexy, but Dean takes the Christmas cake for being the most relaxed singer of a seasonal song ever. darkblue
We have a Swing version (Dean) and a Jazz version (Billie). Both are enjoyable in different ways. It's Billie's booze-damaged vocals that have more effect for me than Dean's more affable song-styling. She wins on this one.
misswonderly3
"Booze-damaged vocals" is a good way to put it. And somehow, it's not in a pejorative sense. It kind of "works" for her - that's not to say that I'm glad Billie had addiction problems because of the way it made her voice sound. Aargh, sometimes the more you try to explain, the worse you make it. Anyway, yeah, I agree, both versions are so different, no need to compare. Another Christmas song, this one from "Tull": (hopefully a refreshing change from all the usual Yuletide musical fare.)
DownGoesFrazier
Interesting that there is a comparison involving Dino, and booze is mentioned for the other party.
misswonderly3
Guess that is kind of ironic...maybe the lyrics to that song should be changed to "I've Got My Booze to Keep Me Warm".
misswonderly3
The Vince Guaraldi Trio's "My Little Drum" is, in my opinion, the best version ever of this sometimes overplayed Christmas song. No lyrics in this one, just those kids kind of contributing their chorus of voices like it was an instrument. The Charlie Brown Christmas music (by Vince Guaraldi and his guys) is one of my favourite Christmas albums.

misswonderly3
So nice to hear from you, lavenderblue. I'm not sure what's up with the private message system here-maybe people are sending more pm's than usual, due to the time of year, and therefore it's clogged up or slower or something? My inbox is relatively clear - certainly enough so that I should be able to both send and receive messages. Anyway, I hope I get the pm you refer to, but even if I don't, I'm happy to hear from you this way.
DownGoesFrazier
This may be gross, but in the interest of full disclosure, I've got to relay the fact that Dino said that, in the latter stages of his life, the thing he looked forward to the most was his daily bowel movement. faceinthecrowd
This is a good day to listen to some Stones -- it's Keith Richards' 70th birthday....an example of what clean living can do.

misswonderly3
Old fogey that I am, I have no interest in the Stones after "Exile on Main Street". Here's a very, for lack of a better word, still version of "Silent Night". Often associated with bitter invective and angry songs, Sinead O'Connor pulls off a strangely effective version of this beloved carol. The absolute opposite of angry, she is here. (Weird video - like a fragment of a Dickens dream...) Edited by: misswonderly on Dec 19, 2013 8:29 PM
DownGoesFrazier
I'm not a heavy metal guy, but I love the near-metal, "Panama" by Van Halen, "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" by Judas Priest, and "Sweet Child of Mine" by Guns and Roses. speedracer5
I love a wide variety of music everything from bubblegum oldies, to big band, to metal-- just depends on the song. I'd have to say my least favorites are probably country, rap and opera; but I'm sure I could find a few songs that I enjoy. But, if I had to name some favorites, I'd say: -The Doors. I love the fact that their "bassist" plays the organ. -Frank Sinatra. The man could sing the phone book and it'd sound amazing. -Nirvana. Love it -Patsy Cline. Beautiful voice -The Beatles Edited by: speedracer5 on Dec 25, 2013 11:53 PM
