DownGoesFrazier
Ron and Russell Mael aren't for everyone, but I love 'em. Thank God it's Not Christmas by Sparks: Sparks, I believe, was fronted by Jane Wiedlin, formerly of the Go-Gos.
TheGayDivorcee
Sparks, I believe, was fronted by Jane Wiedlin, formerly of the Go-Gos. Jane did a song (Cool Places) or two with them, but wasn't in the band. When I saw them live a couple years ago in San Francisco she was in the audience--I think she had a Sparks fan club as a teenager.

misswonderly3
Some very nice Christmas offerings here. I like them all, even the corny Slade number. I especially enjoy "Christmas Vacation", which, without looking it up- so I could be wrong-, is by the Staples Singers. Very catchy, and very Christmassy. I liked the movie, too, come to think of it. Moving on to New Year's Eve: I always try to play this on New Year's Eve, because of the optimism in the title. Plus, it's a great song, sung by a great singer.

DownGoesFrazier
Back to rock......The best song I've heard so far this year is the Stray Cats' remake of Eddie Cochran's great "Somethin' Else". Since I have so much trouble posting youtubes, Can someone please do it? Thanks.

DownGoesFrazier
Sure. What harm could it do? Thanks. Cochran's original is actually better, but it's in mono. What a talent he was, taken from us all too soon.

misswonderly3
Yup, old Johnny Cash deserves his legendary status. Here's another "legend". It's very very hard to find original 60s Dylan on the internet, definitely not on Youtube. I finally found the version of the song I was looking for, but there's a slight problem - no visual, just a blank screen. However, this is almost a good thing, since it means you have to pay attention purely to the music. And the music deserves your full attention (gawd, that sounds kind of pompous, doesn't it? But it does.) Anyway, here's a great song from "Blonde on Blonde", one of my favourite Bob Dylan albums. Fabulous marriage of music and lyrics. Absolutely Sweet Marie. http://vimeo.com/88685394
