misswonderly3
I have most of R.E.M.'s albums, though not every one, and Automatic for the People is my favorite. And Find the River is very affecting, with a touch of melancholy running through it. GayD. and Lawrence: thanks for the tunes by (respectively) the latest Nobel Prize winner for literature and the Talking Heads. I am a huge fan of both, particularly the former. However, I'm still in an R.E.M. mode. Here's one of the best songs these guys ever wrote, "King of Birds". The lyrics are fascinating, as is the tune.

LawrenceA
Lawrence, I think this is what could be called an embarrassment of riches. It was a bit much, but I thought I'd post one song for each of this year's nominees, regardless of my personal opinion of any of them (and there's a couple I'm not too fond of). misswonderly3
Today is Remembrance Day in Canada. And yesterday, Leonard Cohen died. * Thought it seemed appropriate to post this: * Actually, I have since found out that Leonard Cohen died on Monday (November7th.) I'm thinking maybe his family did not want to announce his passing until after the American election ?
misswonderly3
I was very sad to hear that Leonard Cohen had died...especially in a week where I was already feeling sad (surely no reason to say why...) Two of my favourites by this master of song and poetry: (Anyone familiar with the Robert Altman film McCabe and Mrs.Miller will recognize this. What a beautiful song.) Tower of Song. The lyrics to this are so witty and interesting. One of Mr. Cohen's coolest tunes:
