Off Topic: Favorite Music?

Sad to hear the Fat Man is gone. I'm sure he probably looked pretty bad at the end. Heavyset individuals go down hard. At least he lived a long life.

Whenever I am at a jukebox I usually punch in a couple of his tunes. His music has been in more than a few fine movies.

p.s. "Ghost Riders on the Storm"? I know "Riders on the Storm" (Doors) and I know "Ghost Riders in the Sky" (Vaughn Monroe) and I know "Riding the Storm Out" (the Outlaws) but I don' know no 'Ghost Riders on the Storm".

p.p.s. Miley Cyrus, ugggg

After a year of working concurrently as the Inventory Control supervisor and the Corporate Process Writer, I have finally moved into my new position.  My days are spent writing procedures for our various warehouses.  I've found that I have to play some type of music, otherwise the silence is distracting.  However, I've also found that listening to playlists of my favorite songs is also distracting.  "I don't want to hear this now, skip."

However, what I haven't found distracting is listening to jazz or the vocalists (e.g. Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Doris Day) or lounge music.  I downloaded the Julie London Essentials on Apple Music and that is what I'm listening to right now.

Are there some other vocalists in the same vein as Doris Day, Peggy Lee, or Julie London out there that would be worth listening to?

I've also downloaded some playlists of big band jazz and things like that. Are there some great jazz musicians out there that I should download and listen to while I'm writing? I like Glenn Miller and I've been listening to some Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald as they pop up on various playlists.  I wouldn't mind downloading some "Essentials" of different artists.

R.I.P. Genesis P-Orridge (birth name Neil Megson) 1950-2020, one of the truly strangest figures in music. I liked his early stuff with influential British group Throbbing Gristle, and some of his later stuff with Psychic TV. He was a real character, shocking, controversial, and one-of-a-kind.

R.I.P. William Rieflin (1960-2020), drummer with several bands, including Ministry, R.E.M., and King Crimson. He was part of the Chicago/Wax Trax stable of musicians in 1980's/90's were floated from one project to another, including Ministry, Revolting ****, KMFDM, Lard, Swans, Pigface, and Nine Inch Nails. He later became the replacement drummer in R.E.M. after the retirement  in 1997 of original member Bill Berry. Rieflin's final gig was working with King Crimson from 2013 to 2016, after which he battled cancer, which ultimately took his life. I saw Rieflin live a couple of times, with Ministry and KMFDM, and he had a memorable stage presence.

I'm sort of an odd duck. I can go from classical to heavy metal. With bluegrass, swing, 60's, 70's and 80's in between, add in the Stones, Clapton, the Bee Gees, and then I'll swing wildly to today's music to Imagine Dragons, I love the Darkness, some Kaleo, then back to Queen, Aerosmith, then I'll be listening to old country like Hank Williams, Sr.  the next day. I can't be pinned down. I may be listening to 80's new wave tomorrow, or Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. I used to have a record collection of over 10,000. So who knows? :)

So...what do you think of Darius Milhaud?
