Off Topic: Favorite Music?

You got me in a good mood, Jackie, girl!

I like your choices. "Put on a little make-up, make-up!"

This Solid Gold clip kills me:

It's rainy here in the 'Burg, but we're going to have a lovely weekend.

I always associate 80s music with summer because we had a pool and most every day

during the summer, my brother and I (with supervision) would play in the pool while listening

to 80s music on the radio.

Here are some summer songs for me:

"I visited my 91-year-old grandma in the hospital last night. She just had her gall bladder

removed. Feeling younger? :)"

Yes, thank you. I still have all of my stuff.

You're hitting many of the right notes with me, Jackie. The Cure is the only false one, but I

thought the song was very solid.

Loved hearing "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic." That's my favorite Police song.

I never heard "Sunday Girl" before. It's good. You selected my favorite Blondie

tune: "One Way or Another."

I love your choice for favorite video of the 80s. I really like that video and song. I need to think

about what my favorite video is. I loved "Thriller" and "Money for Nothing" when they first aired.

These are the videos I have always liked from my MTV days:

But this is most definitely the most memorable video of the 80s for me:

I have almost everything Blondie recorded, but Sunday Girl stands way up high above everything else for me. It's a super song.

Oh my gosh, FISH HEADS! Geez. That is hysterical! My daughter loves that song....who knew they had a video? I don't remember it at all....leave it to you to post that one!

You had a distinct liking for very stylized videos, very German stuff.... interesting. A little Lang fan in the making.....or maybe it was the girls with red lipstick...and Nena with her Luftballons. :)

I liked the Eddie Money one - it faintly rings a bell .....

Der Kommissar is just one of those weird songs that sounded so new and different at the time. I still really like it.

oooohhh. I LOVE Squeeze.

I almost posted The Tubes in my last post, that is so funny!

I always liked the way things got very mixed up in the eighties.... there was a very open mindset then... an anything goes attitude, music wise. I liked a lot of the Euro stuff, with an emphasis on the UK bands like Big Country, The English Beat, UB40, et al.

*Chris -* Frankenstein! Oh that's a great song! You are really bringing back lot of memories....that was popular when I got my first little transistor radio...maybe 1975? I remember playing in the driveway and listening to it.....

Here is another favorite video of mine (and my favorite song by this band). I like the idea of a song about a woman who just floats away:

Hope you're referring to the original version of Der Kommissar by Falco and not the pointless remake by After the Fire. That one wallows in lameness.

Sure, you can say it. :-) I imagine you heard the American bastardized version first. It's funny to me that they bothered to translate it into English but kept the title the same. What's the point?

I think that was the only hit After the Fire ever had, if I remember correctly.

I try again: but you do like Fish Heads! Excuse me if this has already been mentioned, but Barnes and Barnes who did the 1978 version is Billy Mumy and a childhood friend.

Any mom whose daughter actually knows and likes "Fish Heads" is a honey in my

book. Too bad for you. :P

I like Billy Mumy. In fact, I just like to say "Billy Mumy". It's fun.

Do you think they still call him Billy? What is he, like 50 years old now?

*Frank* -

She is a honey....

Joan Jett works for me! I wonder where she was born. :)

I wish You Tube had the video for this one:

I looked up other Pennsylvania bands and couldn't find anyone I knew except the Dead Milkmen.

I couldn't post any of their videos for fear of starting a riot....
