movieman1957
"Arianne" may be, lyrically, one of the most evocative songs I have ever heard. I have never heard another recording of it, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiOEOETObTs Fogelberg's "Beggar's Game." Can't find a decent recording of it. Again I love the lyrics. My favorite from Cross (no video) is "It's You That Really Matters." I also like "Alibi." I saw him in concert in Annapolis a couple of years ago. Wonderful performer. Met him afterwards. He signed my ticket, I got silly and told him I admired his music because he used such interesting chord progressions. We talked about music for a few minutes, Enjoyed it a great deal, Edited by: movieman1957 on May 9, 2010 12:47 AM

I have a Johnny Mathis "greatest hits" collection but that song was not included. I'm so disappointed! It's wonderful. > My favorite from Cross (no video) is "It's You That Really Matters." I love your story and think it's great you two conversed. Musicians always like to meet other musicians who know their work.

casablancalover
Dan Fogelberg. I discovered his music when lite rock stations played his work in the 70s and 80s. I like these. Part of the Plan: In the Morning: And for Sunday today.. *Don't Lose Heart:* I'm off to breakfast.. My son's treating me. Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there. movieman1957
Great Fogelberg tunes. Lyrics mean something for me and he could write with the best of them. "Wysteria" "Believe In Me" "Lonely In Love" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SuLLkveHoc Most of my favorites of his tend to be the melancholy sort. movieman1957
MissG: "Arianne" was hardly a hit. It was buried in an album from about 1972. I never saw it again until Columbia put out the four disc box set. I would have been more surprised if you had heard it. I am very glad you enjoyed it. casablancalover
I found this morning some beautiful sunsets in Florida. Along with some John Denver.. I will be travelling there in June, and doing some research in Key West. Anyone there? What should I look for in Key West? I will be checking out the cemetery--and the bars! casablancalover
23. Wednesday kids. You know what that means. But no songs today. I do like *The Downfall* parodies. First of all, because it's Bruno Ganz (I love Bruno Ganz), and I love satire. Here are my favorites, there are so many done on youtube h5. Warning, rough language in subtitles. h5. You make it a great day, because no one else may help make it a great day.. Edited by: casablancalover on May 12, 2010 9:21 AM
misswonderly3
casablancalover, thought you might enjoy this. There are no visuals, but just enjoy the music. This singer is undeservedly obscure. I think he's great. http://mobistar.fr.netlog.com/go/explore/videos/videoid=fr-4022370 It's on a weird French site, so you might have to wait a few seconds before the song starts. It's worth it, though. casablancalover
Another thread is discussing Bernard Herrmann. It is said that this was his favorite score. The Ghost and Mrs.Muir: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IOxyIn7MVQ I don't know if I can have a favorite of his, I love so many of them. This one doesn't get the play it deserves: Jane Eyre: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Tk2k5Y5oOM I'll try to dig up more from this fine production.
