Off Topic: Favorite Music?

Recommended Posts

"Arianne" may be, lyrically, one of the most evocative songs I have ever heard. I have never heard another recording of it,

Fogelberg's "Beggar's Game." Can't find a decent recording of it. Again I love the lyrics.

My favorite from Cross (no video) is "It's You That Really Matters." I also like "Alibi."

I saw him in concert in Annapolis a couple of years ago. Wonderful performer. Met him afterwards. He signed my ticket, I got silly and told him I admired his music because he used such interesting chord progressions. We talked about music for a few minutes, Enjoyed it a great deal,

My word, that is one of the loveliest songs I never heard! I have a Johnny Mathis "greatest hits" collection but that song was not included. I'm so disappointed! It's wonderful.

I don't think I know those two.

Well it's good to know he's still out there. I thought he sort of disappeared. I love your story and think it's great you two conversed. Musicians always like to meet other musicians who know their work. :)

Love that song too. What beautiful lyrics.

Dan Fogelberg. I discovered his music when lite rock stations played his work in the 70s and 80s. I like these.

Part of the Plan:

MissG:

"Arianne" was hardly a hit. It was buried in an album from about 1972. I never saw it again until Columbia put out the four disc box set. I would have been more surprised if you had heard it. I am very glad you enjoyed it.

I found this morning some beautiful sunsets in Florida. Along with some John Denver..

I will be travelling there in June, and doing some research in Key West. Anyone there? What should I look for in Key West? I will be checking out the cemetery--and the bars!

23.

Wednesday kids. You know what that means. But no songs today.

I do like *The Downfall* parodies. First of all, because it's Bruno Ganz (I love Bruno Ganz), and I love satire. Here are my favorites, there are so many done on youtube

h5. Warning, rough language in subtitles.

h5. You make it a great day, because no one else may help make it a great day..

casablancalover, thought you might enjoy this. There are no visuals, but just enjoy the music. This singer is undeservedly obscure. I think he's great.

It's on a weird French site, so you might have to wait a few seconds before the song starts. It's worth it, though.

Another thread is discussing Bernard Herrmann. It is said that this was his favorite score.

The Ghost and Mrs.Muir:

I don't know if I can have a favorite of his, I love so many of them. This one doesn't get the play it deserves:

Jane Eyre:

I'll try to dig up more from this fine production.

I get it, MM, Thanks.

It's Saturday night.. I'm watching White Feather on DVD, and remembering watching these movies with my older brothers in the sixties. I'll post a sixties hit, and get back to the movie; it's very good! Debra Paget is the prettiest Cheyenne maid ever!

Bought some summer clothes for my adventure in FL. Time for some summer music, Pet Sounds:

h5. This one features book covers, ones I haven't seen since I was 13 and I saw them at the Richfield Drug on the backside of the magazine counter! I was an adventurous young lady even then.
