casablancalover
Very good! It's Verdi, from La Traviata. Poinciana
Lovely! Thanks so much for those links Casa. I'm opera deficient. I did see Tales of Hoffmann but unfortunately we had front row seats, doesn't sound unfortunate does it, but we could see the street shoes of the cast as well as the make-up and the sound of their voices pretty much skipped over us. casablancalover
Sorry about the seats, I know that in concert hall, those can be not good, like front row at the movies. This was my earworm today. I had to look up my favorite performer of this, Paul Robeson, and I found a clip of the 1936 version of Showboat: And William Warfield does an incredible version too:

misswonderly3
Hi, casablancalover ! Thanks for all the tunes. Hope you don't mind if I contribute one . Although obviously I don't know you, for some reason this song reminds me of you. Take it as a compliment, because it's a great song. It's Mavis Staples' I'll Take You There http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXvKRZRofDE&feature=related Doesn't matter that there are no visuals, because what you do is, you get up off your computer chair and dance!
