casablancalover
>(Just you wait until I whip out Neil Sedaka's Bad Blood.) -Fedya Let's not wait. . . h5. Not everything Neil Sedaka touched was gold. Anticipation is wonderful for kisses, sex, and otherwise good times. Not so good for some mid-seventies music. Eww. . . I need to take a shower now. coolrob1955
I'm always on a Broadway kick. Here are some clever Broadway songs. I believe this style of vocal arrangement is called a Canon (in classical terms), each singer singing a different line, verse, tune, etc. *Guys and Dolls - Fugue For Tinhorns* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fl6MHgh1vFQ *The Music Man - Pick-a-little/Goodnight Ladies* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbhnRuJBHLs *Oliver! - Be Back Soon* A clever Cole Porter song. Couldn't find a clip from the movie on YouTube but here's the great Blossom Dearie version. I have no idea who the guy in the video is. *Kiss me, Kate - Always True To You Darlin In My Fashion* Best wishes Metairie Road
casablancalover
Driving home from work, I thought of this song. Classic Sixties number, The Walker Bros: Hum, Broadway. Remember this?
coolrob1955
casablancalover, thanks for posting the Walker Brothers, what a great song. Some great covers of some of my favorite songs. Sweet version of a lovely Paul Simon song. *Everything but the girl - The only living boy in New York* A very nice version of the Kinks song. *The Submarines - Waterloo Sunset* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1P8F3SsGpfg A band totally unknown beyond the shores of England. A great version of a Chuck Berry classic. *Steve Gibbons Band - Tulane* I'm not a fan of heavy metal, but credit where it's due. These guys nailed this classic Fleetwood Mac song. *Judas Priest - The Green Manalishi* Best wishes Metairie Road
ccmiller1492
When I think of favorite music in relation to films, I think of film scores, back in the days when music was composed for the film purposefully, not just dubbed in from previous recordings that had nothing to do with the movie. Here's some of my favorites: El Cid (Rosza) The Egyptian (Newman & Herrman) Walk on the Wild Side (Bernstein) The Blue Lagoon (Poledouris) Lawrence of Arabia These film scores are every bit as satisfying as listening to a symphony...they stand on their own as great music, regardless of the films for which they were written.
