Off Topic: Favorite Music?

So you're gonna take on the Elvis task? That will be impressive. I'll see if I can do the same. Elvis is similar to The Beatles with me. I like many of their songs but I wouldn't list them as favorites of mine.

After missing a few titles on my list for The Beatles, I decided to go over the Wiki list of their songs. This ended up being my final ranking:

I'd have to think hard just to pick five favorites. I think the Beatles were the first pop group I was able to identify, because my father had some of their biggest albums (I remember the White Album, and the Red and Blue ones, whatever they were) and he was a big, big fan. I think they were the first pop songs I learned words to, as well so when I hear them it reminds me of that time.

"Norwegian Wood" was one of the first I can recall listening to. Neither of my parents were into Elvis so I heard little from him. I actually like a couple of his later songs, like the one about the boy in the ghetto, and the one about jealousy. See, I can't even remember the titles!

Oh, come on! They are pretty easy to pick five favorites from.

The first music I remember as a child is disco. :) And I do like disco.

This is very first song I can ever remember (I was five):

I thought the song was telling women to shake something else.

My mom also liked country and Kenny Rogers, so I heard that very early on. My dad wasn't into music but his favorite group was The Beach Boys. None of the older folks in my family were really into pop culture stuff, so I really didn't have much influence. I found music on my own. I didn't know of anyone who liked The Beatles. My mom is an Elvis fan, though. She'll listen to his ballads while driving.

From artists I don't know, I know songs when I hear them versus knowing their title. I'll have to look over this list of, gulp, 800 songs:

If they are cover songs that didn't chart, I probably won't include them.

Thunder Island? Did you catch that off of someone else's bodacious list? I love it too.

Sir Francis:

You've been doing some listening. Out of your 40 there are only three or four I would not have included on mine. Some rearranging is in order on my list but when you dig up "All I've Got To Do" and "It's All Too Much" and a few album cuts it makes for a fine list.
