Cover Up & The Crooked Way

You can also find SOMEWHERE IN THE NIGHT with John Hodiak, which shares many of the plot lines of THE CROOKED WAY (WWII vet returns with amnesia, only a few clues to his past). "Remake" might be one word, but "re-use" is probably the better one. They have some decent divergences, though, and each has its own merits.

KANSAS CITY CONFIDENTIAL is another good John Payne film where he's searching for some truth, but this time, the supporting cast is so great - Jack Elam early, then Lee Van Cleef, Neville Brand and Coleen Gray almost make it worth while for Payne to run into Preston Foster.
