& especially compared to what we have today....

I don't understand what this thread is. Did you mistakenly create a separate thread in response to your other thread about classic comedy?

And if so, referring to either Chris Tucker or Pauly Shore as comedians of "today" is stretching it, as both of those guys hit their peak back in the 1990's. Pauly Shore in particular hasn't starred in a hit movie in over 20 years or more.

Jack Black still appears in things, but I wouldn't call him a leading comedy actor anymore, either, although he had hits with the recent Jumanji and Goosebumps movies. But those were family comedies.

As has been stated many times before, comedy is the most subjective genre. If something makes you laugh, it makes you laugh. If it doesn't, it doesn't. No amount of explanation will make a movie funnier to you. Some people laugh at the Marx Brothers, other hate them. Some laugh at Laurel & Hardy, others find them hopelessly dated and corny. Some laugh to the point of tears at the Three Stooges, while others find them moronic and irritating. Same goes for comedians and their movies from the 50's, 60's, 70's, up to today. Just enjoy what you enjoy.
