La ?ltima cita (1928 version by Julio De Caro)

I maybe feeling nostalgic tonight, but here we go.

 

"La ?ltima cita" is a tango by composer Agust?n Bardi that was written in 1923 and recorded by Francisco Canaro with great success. Several years later, Francisco Garc?a Jim?nez wrote lyrics (rather forcibly attaching them to the existing music, but with good results) and Mercedes Simone left a good version as a song in 1932.

 

In the middle, there is the best version. Julio De Caro's orchestra in 1928, recorded for Victor and performed at the Real Cine movie theater.

 

This tango (specially after the Garc?a Jim?nez lyrics, from a woman's perspective) is about a couple that gather together for a final date to break up with its painful aftermath:
