bhayden33
Does anyone know the artist of the triptych (or possibly larger than 3 panels) painting on the TCM set behind Robert Osborne in this picture? http://photos.shebloggedbynight.com/images/A_3/5/2/2/12253/birdman_osborne_44a17.jpg Message was edited by: bhayden33
MissGulch
It looks like it's borrowed from photographer Andreas Feininger, maybe? (George Eastman House Still Photograph Gallery) Just a guess though...
bhayden33
Thanks. I looked at some of Andreas Feininger's works (nice), but I'm pretty sure the artwork behind Osborne is in color, whereas Andreas Feininger was a black and white photographer. The search continues! rainingviolets21
Might it be my favorite artist Morris Katz ?
FredCDobbs
That looks like one of the composite pictures of all the art deco buildings that TCM runs at the start of every film.
MissGulch
We're going to figure these out, I'm not giving up! I missed Robert Osborne's intro to *METROPOLIS (1927)* on Sunday night but these could be from that film, perhaps, and tinted? Bet Mr. Osborne knows since he matched his tie to it... bhayden33
I've scoured the art deco and architecture sections of Art.com and can't find anything like it. It's still a mystery to me.
MissGulch
Then maybe it's an urban collage made by a creative mind in the design department at TCM who shall forever be unknown and uncredited... Here's a METROPOLIS scene which doesn't look quite the same-
