TheMalteseFalcon
I wish they would put out a collection of John Barrymore movies on DVD, and would love to see, Rasputin And The Emperess on DVD! With all the Barrymores.
carolynkingsley
Barrymore was a lech and a drunk, but a great actor. He's easy to watch and I love that profile. By the way, he was Errol Flynn's idol, the one he patterned himself after.
markbeckuaf
LOL, you gotta love it when a lech and a drunk is one of the greatest actor of all times!!! I dug the dude, man, he rocked the house! Saw THE MAD GENIUS a few weeks ago, and the dude had a presence that was undeniable. Pretty much loved anything I've seen him in, silent or talkie. John had it going on man!

patful
It may not be on DVD yet but it is on TCM this coming week. I have multiple email reminders out for that one! Not multiple because I wanted that many, just a result of my exceedingly bad memory of late.
TheMalteseFalcon
One of my favorite Silent Films he was in was, The Sea Beast. He had such a strong prescence on the screen that is was to take your eyes off of him.
TheMalteseFalcon
Another great movie John Barrymore did was, The Great Man Votes in 1939. A very charming role indeed for Mr. Barrymore.

markbeckuaf
I love all these Barrymore films mentioned. I also thought his silent version of DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE was outstanding. I saw him in one of his later films, THE GREAT PROFILE, not long ago and it rocked, very funny! He was clearly reading from cue cards and wasted, but hey, he was still great---how wild is that? I also loved him in the 1933 COUNSELLOR AT LAW, very cool flick!

DON JUAN (1926) and THE BELOED ROGUE (1927) a very good silents too.
