There you are! I was getting worried we didn't see you on the boards a while. I hope

your Mom is OK. I see she's still spot on with her assessments. :)

You are the wise one between the two of us, to be afraid of Dix. I'm the one who's

always attracted to trouble! :D It's a great movie, I hope you can see it all one day.

You're a sweetheart, but don't you think it's a relief you don't have to be bombarded with pictures of ATOM AGE VAMPIRE on an otherwise serious thread, like Frank's "Demarcation"?

I automatically run away from even the slightest hint of conflict or ambiguity in a guy (or...life) so I guess Dudley Do-Right or Nelson Eddy are the right men for me, lol. This isn't wisdom, it's probably delusion.

See, Bogey's face is naturally scary looking to me, so even if he were the sweetest character on earth, I'd probably think he was up to no good.

Unfortunately for me, Richard could come as close to me in the dark and try to put some orange juice down my throat, but I'd have to turn him in.

Sure, I'd suffer some sleepless nights....

No but they sound VERY APPROPRIATE for the "FrankGrimes Torture Thread". :P

Ha haaaa! No, I think you are definitely on the right track and I'm working on

staying on that track myself.

For those of us who fell in love with Bogey in *Casablanca*, I doubt very much he could be "scary looking" unless deliberately trying (as in *The Return of Dr. X*, for example).

In *In a Lonely Place*, he does however look pretty taciturn, and you gradually come to expect almost anything from him.

I will start doing that too. Hopefully others will too. It looks good.

Yes Frank, That will work! ;)

Molo, what a lovely cyber birthday gift. That shot of Double G in that black strapless gown is to die for. She looks so defiant. I actually feel sorry for the guys that try to "date" her. They better come, correct.

Bronxgirl, I hope that you'll be able to see "In A Lonely Place." It's a good solid film.

MISS GODDESS: "You are the wise one between the two of us, to be afraid of Dix. I'm the one who's always attracted to trouble! It's a great movie, I hope you can see it all one day."

Hmm...and you can't find a good guy in Manrattan. Okay.

You are not too late.

I humbly and gratefully thank you for your wishes. Funny you bring up Gloria. As I watched Harlow Saturday night, I reveled in seeing her stand toe-to-toe with Beery in "Dinner At Eight" and yelling at "the big windbag." I literally thought to myself "Gloria Grahame is your direct descendant." Maybe not the loud brash emotion...but there's something about Harlow in Gloria.

Thanx again!

As we wait patiently for TCM to hopefully air: *Naked Alibi*, *Blond Fever*, *The Glass Wall* and other too long neglected Gloria Grahame films, TCM will air three of her films as January comes to a close.

All Times Eastern:

Late Monday/ Early Tuesday at Midnight January 20th:

odds-against-tmw.jpg

*Odds Against Tomorrow - 1959* Directed by Robert Wise, this is a gritty film about men in desperate straits forced to join together in a bank robbery plot. Harry Belafonte, Ed Begley and Robert Ryan all give strong performances in the lead roles. Shelly Winters is also good. This represents the end of Gloria's great run of films in the 1950's. She is older and maybe a little tired but she still has that certain "something" smoldering underneath. She wouldn't make another film for eight years.

Saturday January 24th 9:45am:

LosSobornados-TheBigHeat.jpg

*The Big Heat - 1953* Directed by Fritz Lang, this features Gloria in one of her most memorable roles, and one of film noir's most legendary scenes. Glenn Ford stars as a cop on a mission. Lee Marvin brings the coffee. If you haven't seen it yet, now is your chance. Don't miss it.

Friday January 30th 5:45am:

BadBeautiful.jpg

*The Bad and the Beautiful - 1952* Directed by Vincente Minnelli, this entertaining soap opera features a cast of heavy hitters, but it was Gloria who walked off with the Oscar for her small but memorable turn as Rosemary, the quirky, flirtatious wife of screenwriter James Lee Bartlow, played by Dick Powell. I wish they had made the film about her.

Message was edited by: molo14 because of a brain lapse: Gloria appeared in *Blonde Fever* not *Blonde Crazy*

Message was edited by: molo14 because it's Glenn Ford not Glen Flord

Thank you for the reminder, faceinthecrowd! B-)
