{font:Calibri}Thanks. This actress, Oscar winner for a 1957 film, said her mother enjoyed going to the movies often and that her mother nearly had her in the middle of a Joan Crawford movie, Our Modern Maidens, 1929. In fact, her mother wanted to name her after Joan, but being southern, she chose another name. Who is this Oscar-winning actress?{font}

Thanks. We all know that Mickey Rooney was in some silent movies as a child, and he is still with us today, approaching his 91st birthday. There was a little girl who started in movies before Mickey Rooney. She was a well known child actress and she is still around today. Can you name her?

That was her nom-de-plume when she wrote her autobiography. As a young actress she was known as Baby Peggy. Her real name was Peggy-Jean Montgomery. She is two years older than Mickey Rooney. She starred in "Captain January" 12 years before Shirley Temple made the sound version. Baby Peggy was also the unofficial mascot of the 1924 Democratic national convention, appearing on the stage with Franklin D. Roosevelt. Her father was a stuntman in westerns and was Tom Mix's stunt double at one time. She took the pen name Diana Serra Cary when she started writing. She wrote several books including "Hollywood Posse" and "Hollywood's Children", in addition to her own story, "Whatever Happened To Baby Peggy?". Similar to Jackie Coogan's story, her money was depleted by her parents. She tried a comeback in talkies as a teen, but she never made it. There was also another young actress named Peggy Montgomery that she was sometimes confused with. Good job, muddy. It's all your's now.
