KarmaGirl
Yes finance you have completed the answer with an honorable mention to Terrence1 for getting Agatha Christie right. Margaret Rutherford played Miss Marple in 4 movies and a cameo appearence in "The ABC Murders". Agatha Christie dedicated "The Mirror Cracked From Side to Side" to Rutherford. The book was partly based on an incident that happened to Gene Tierney. Angela Lansbury played Miss Marple in 1980 in the film adaptation, "The Mirror Cracked". Along with Rutherford and Lansbury, Miss Marple has been portrayed by Gracie Fields, Helen Hayes, Joan Hickson, Geraldine McEwan, and Julia McKenzie. In non-English versions, Miss Marple has been played by Inge Langen and Ita Ever. A Bengali version based on "The Mirror Cracked,..." was produced starring Rakhi Gulzar as a equivalent to Miss Marple. finance, since you completed the answer, the thread is yours. There are two stars about whom Billy Wilder had very little good to say, even after their deaths. They caused him many problems while working for him. Who were they? lavenderblue19
Well known that Marilyn Monroe drove Billy crazy with lateness, not knowing her lines, etc, but not sure about the 2nd one. I'll guess Charles Boyer??

I'll guess Charles Boyer?? Monroe is correct. Boyer gave him problems on HOLD BACK THE DAWN, but he was not yet a director. There's another actor who caused him real problems as a director. starliteyes
Marilyn Monroe immediately popped into my mind, too, but I had to really think about who the other actor could be. I still can't say for sure, but I'm going to take a guess that it's Humphrey Bogart. I know he didn't get along with his co-stars in Sabrina, so I'm thinking maybe he didn't get along with Billy Wilder either.

starliteyes
If lavender doesn't mind, I'll take it since I happen to be here right now and have a question ready to go. This film featured a scene in which a lie detector test was administered. The man who gave the test was the actual inventor of the lie detector and played himself. Name the film. Extra points if you can name the inventor.

Terrence1
OK. I'll take this one. In a certain movie, a character actor refuses to admit someone to a hotel, because of being Jewish. In another movie, this same character actor refuses a couple, because they are black. Name the two movies and the character actor.
lavenderblue19
GENTLEMEN'S AGREEMENT and HOTEL - Roy Roberts as the hotel clerk in both films refused the registration ???
Terrence1
Absolutely perfect, Lavender. You answered every single part of the question. It's yours.
lavenderblue19
Thanks Terrence. I also noticed Roy Roberts playing the same role in GENTLEMEN'S AGREEMENT and HOTEL the last time I watched those 2 films. It's fun when you notice those type of things, it was a good question next A supporting actress in 2 different films a year apart, played characters that had the same first name. Another coincidence, another actress appeared in both the films with her. They are '60's films. Name the 2 actresses, the 2 films and the same character first name one of the actresses had in the 2 films ?????

MilesArcher
Would it be Thelma Ritter in "The Second Time Around" and "How The West Was Won" with Debbie Reynolds? Thelma played characters named Aggie or Agatha.
lavenderblue19
All correct Miles, and it's interesting that the films were only a year apart. Good work, your thread
MilesArcher
Maybe Lavender and I have been on these boards so much that we can read each others thoughts. When I first read the question and it mentioned supporting actress, I immediately thought of Thelma Ritter. It was easy to find the answer after that. Now, here is one you probably don't know. An actor, who was in western movies and television shows in the fifties and sixties, also had a recording career. Before he got involved in acting, he took an interest in his wife's young cousin, teaching the young man how to play the guitar. That young man became a very well known singer/songwriter in the 1960's. While each man recorded many songs, each had a hit song that they are always associated with. Do you know both men? They were both from Oklahoma.
lavenderblue19
Sheb Wooley and his wife's cousin was Roger Miller ? I still love the song King Of The Road sung by Miller
MilesArcher
Good work, Lavender. I thought that this was one of my tougher questions, but you got it. Sheb Wooley was a regular on the "Rawhide" TV series. He had also played one of the villains in "High Noon". His big hit song was "The Purple People Eater". Roger Miller had lots of hit songs, but "King Of The Road" is probably his most popular. It's your turn now, Lavender.
lavenderblue19
Thanks During the intros for the Betty Grable films shown on TCM the other day, one of the films that was shown was said to be Betty Grable's favorite of all the films she was in. Edythevanhopper
Darn lav, I came in late so didn't get the intro but I'm going to guess I Wake Up Screaming...something was said during the part I heard that makes me think it was that one.
