lavenderblue19
You're 1/2 right. Yes, Karl Malden is the actor, but that's not the film. Let's hold out and see if someone remembers the movie.
lavenderblue19
Thanks Miles This actor's character complains about something in a film. In real life he made commercials endorsing what he was complaining about in the film! Name the actor, the film and extra credit for what he complained about in the film and endorsed in commercials ??? Miles got Karl Malden, now what film does he complain about credit cards? He's up to no good and credit cards are getting in the way of something he's doing. Film?

lavenderblue19
Yes HOTEL is the film. Karl Malden is a thief in the film. He breaks into the hotel rooms while guests are sleeping and steals wallets. One night after stealing a man's wallet, he finds only a few singles and complains that credit credits are ruining his profession LOL. So funny that just a few years later he would be the spokesperson for AMERICAN EXPRESS for over 20 years! I'd give the thread to Miles, for the Karl Malden answer first. Good job DGF. You guys decide who gets the thread. Thank You both
MilesArcher
I'll jump in if DGF doesn't mind. What former musical star came out of a lengthy retirement to appear in a supporting role in a remake of a musical that had been done at her studio when she was active? She did not appear in the first version.

MilesArcher
You got it, Terrence. Alice Faye left acting around 1945. She returned to do the remake of "State Fair" in 1962. Your up, Terrence.
Terrence1
For this musical, the love scene between the lead characters was filmed twice, once with them kissing, the other with them being interrupted just before the kiss. The stutdio decided to go with the non-kissing version, because of the image of one of the stars. Name the movie and the two leads.
Terrence1
Hint: The movie is from the 1950's.

Terrence1
Lavender, you're right. The scene took place on a Ferris wheel. I think 20th Century Fox didn't want to mess with the squeaky-clean image. It's yours.
lavenderblue19
Thanks Terrence This actress refused to see a film she co/starred in, she said it was too painful for her to watch. MilesArcher
I think it was too painful for Katherine Hepburn to watch "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner?" Spencer Tracy was not well during the filming and he died before the picture was released. It would have been very difficult for her to watch that film and not break down. In a somewhat similar vein, John F Kennedy Jr. was asked if he or his family had seen Oliver Stone's film "JFK". His response was "No, movies should be for entertainment and it wouldn't be entertaining for us".
lavenderblue19
Exactly. Katherine Hepburn said it was too painful for her to ever watch the finished film GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER because of Spencer Tracy dying 2 weeks after the film completed. Good thinking Miles, your thread
MilesArcher
Thanks, Lavender. I was just doing that mind reading thing again. I'm going to be out for the afternoon, so I'll leave everybody with a question to ponder. Shirley Temple appeared in four movies with an actor. In two of the movies, he played her father. In one movie, he played her godfather. Who was the actor, what were the three movies, and what was the movie they were both in where he didn't play either her father or godfather? MilesArcher
Yes, DGF and Lavender. James Dunn played Shirley's father in "Stand Up And Cheer" and "Baby Take a Bow". He was her godfather in "Bright Eyes". In "Change of Heart", Shirley had a little cameo appearance as a child on a plane, but there was no relationship between the characters. All four of those pictures were released in 1934. Strangely, even though they worked together well, they never were paired again. They don't come much cuter than this clip from "Baby,Take a Bow". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRws_4Inqfc When I was a kid, my mother told me that when she was young, she once had a crush on James Dunn. At the time, I had no idea who he was. OK, DGF, you got James Dunn and the first three movies, so you get to go next.
