MilesArcher
Robert Walker was a private in 1944's "See Here, Private Hargrove", and a corporal in 1945's "What Next, Corporal Hargrove?".
lavenderblue19
Not what I was thinking about. These 2 films are dramas, they were about 5 years apart.
lavenderblue19
The actor was the star of 1 of the films, but not the other film
LiamCasey
Is this Charlton Heston? He portrayed Andrew Jackson as a president in The President's Lady and as a general in The Buccaneer.
lavenderblue19
Charlton Heston is correct. THE PRESIDENT'S LADY and THE BUCCANEER are both correct. Heston is Andrew Jackson in the films. Good work Liam, your thread
LiamCasey
Thanks, lavender. Next: A 'babe' appears in this movie and its sequel. However, although this 'babe' is the same character in both movies, the character's name was changed between the first and the second movies for no apparent reason. Unless, of course, it was to protect the innocent!
Edythevanhopper
I'm probably too crazy to think it could be Babe Ruth? Maybe 1920's "Over The Fence" as George Herman "Babe"Ruth and "Babe Comes Home" 1927 as Babe Dugan?
LiamCasey
No, it isn't the Bambino. But that was a interesting guess since most people probably forget that Babe Ruth was in movies other than The Pride of the Yankees. And, even better, you didn't assume that I was sexist with respect to my clue since you did consider the possibility that the character in question was male! And, as a matter of fact, this character is male.
Edythevanhopper
Let's try Oliver 'Babe' Hardy in ??? (some of the movies are shorts)..maybe "Trouble Brewing" and "The Girl in the Limousine" ?
LiamCasey
Not him either. 'Babe' is the nickname for the character whose surname changes from one movie to the next. It isn't a nickname for the actor who plays the character.
lavenderblue19
How about Wallace Ford, he was Babe Jensen in THE MUMMY'S HAND and Babe Hanson in THE MUMMY'S TOMB ???

lavenderblue19
Thanks What actor was also a circus clown in real life. At the time, no one other than his wife knew about this?
starliteyes
Jack Carson
lavenderblue19
Jack Carson is the one. In the 1940's he would disappear from Hollywood for a time, no one other than his wife knew where he was. He was a clown in Clyde Beatty's Circus. (stand corrected)No one in the audience knew it was Jack Carson. Thought that was such an interesting bit of info about this wonderful actor that so many of us on the bds. admire. Good work star, your thread

starliteyes
Once known as “America’s Boy,” this child actor made 3 movies with titles where he played somebody’s boy. Name the actor and the 3 movies and, if you feel up to the challenge, name the 5 other movies he made with the word “boy” appearing in some form. MilesArcher
I'll say it's Jackie Cooper. Some titles I knew, some I had to look up. Peck's Bad Boy (1934) O'Shaughnessy's Boy (1935) Gangster's Boy (1938) The others are: Lone Cowboy (1933) Boy Of The Streets (1937) Newsboy's Home (1938) Two Bright Boys (1939) Glamour Boy (1941)
starliteyes
I thought that might be a fairly easy one to get. Your thread, Miles.
MilesArcher
Thanks. One of the original "Our Gang" members made a few feature films as a young adult. In one picture, she was John Wayne's leading lady. Can you name her and the movie?
starliteyes
Mary Kornman immediately came to mind, but I had to look up the name of the movie and it was The DesertTrail.
MilesArcher
Yes, pretty Mary Kornman was one of the first stars of the "Our Gang" comedies. When producer Hal Roach conceived the idea for the film series, he didn't want professional child actors. He wanted ordinary kids who looked and acted like kids everywhers. Mary's father was a cameraman for Roach, and freckle faced Mickey Daniels was a kid that lived in the Kornman's neighborhood. Here is young Mary. You can see more photos of her in this short video tribute. It's your turn, Starliteyes.

DownGoesFrazier
Sorry, but I'm going to have to pass this time around. Open thread. This '40s film had two co-stars who were not big film stars, but both later became big TV stars. Film? Co-stars?
