DownGoesFrazier
Ed Norton is correct. Sapphire Sea, the next question belongs to Uncle Charlie.
unclecharlie
Thanks Finance. I'll ask an easy one so people can concentrate on Sapphire's question. Abbott & Costello (my faves) made 36 movies together. One of them started out in black & white (actually sepia) then turned into color ala Wizard of Oz. What movie was it and why did it change into color?
mudskipper
Jack and The Beanstalk... ". Like The Wizard of Oz, the film's opening and closing segments were processed in sepia tone, although many of the DVD releases feature these sequences in black and white, while the entire "Jack and the Beanstalk" story was shot in Eastman Color and processed in the SuperCineColor process. Many television stations that aired the film normally transmitted black and white shows and movies with color equipment turned off, so they ran the sepia tone openings and closings in black and white while running the color portion in color. In addition, animation is used when showing the beanstalk growing in Jack's backyard." If this is correct, give the thread to SapphireSea and her question.... DownGoesFrazier
This predominantly stage actress was in very few films. Her two best-known films both co-starred the same much younger actress. Who is it, and what are the 2 films? Edited by: finance on Nov 14, 2010 3:50 PM
DownGoesFrazier
Hint: One of the 2 films was very recently on TCM. Edited by: finance on Nov 15, 2010 10:26 AM Edited by: finance on Nov 15, 2010 4:26 PM
DownGoesFrazier
Another hint: The young actress who played opposite her in 2 films got off to a great career start, Oscar-wise. Edited by: finance on Nov 16, 2010 10:51 AM

MilesArcher
Thanks. Al Jolson was married to Ruby Keeler at one time. They only made one movie together and only appeared together in two musical numbers in the movie. Can you name the film as well as the two songs that he sang and she danced to? MilesArcher
That's right so far. You can have the thread, finance, but wouldn't you like to take a guess at the other song? Hint: Think of Cesar Romero's nickname.
cujas
It's Butch--and the song is "I'm a Latin From Manhattan"--I'm a 42nd streeter (Sorry Fi, and old Hoofer can't help it) Miles, if I'm correct, I was just "Standing-in" for Fi, ok?
