mudskipper
How about James Wong Howe, the famed cinematographer of Chinese descent ? Edited by: mudskipper on Jan 19, 2011 8:07 PM
The Lady Eve
Yes! James Wong Howe it is, celebrated Asian American cinematographer with Oscars for *Hud* and *The Rose Tattoo* - plus nominations for *Algiers*, *Kings Row*, *The North Star*, *Air Force*, *The Old Man and the Sea*, *Seconds* and *Funny Lady*?other credits include *Manhattan Melodrama*, *The Thin Man*, *The Prisoner of Zenda*, *Yankee Doodle Dandy*, *Picnic*, *Sweet Smell of Success* & *Bell Book and Candle*, among those who apprenticed with him, Robert Burks, Hitchcock?s longtime cinematographer? mudskipper
Thanks, Eve... Walt Disney rejected this film because of its religious content, but Roy, his brother, supported it and distributed it through Buena Vista. It was shot in Panavision 70 and was one of the few biblical films associated with Disney..It starred a singer in a non-singing role, a teen throb at that time, and an actress who was first seen in a great Audie Murphy movie...The movie was adapted from a book... DownGoesFrazier
Pat Boone was in THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD, but that wasn't a Disney film.
mudskipper
That's the wrong biblical film...and the "teen throb" (he may not be in the same category or as popular as Fabian, Elvis, Ricky, Moondoggie or Kookie) was not a singer, but an actor who was in a film once with Sal Mineo, and later with Marlon Brando, and also with Bruce Lee... The Lady Eve
*The Big Fisherman* (1959)?the singer being Howard Keel, the actress Susan Kohner and the teen heartthrob, John Saxon ? who was in *The Appaloosa* with Brando and *Enter the Dragon* with Bruce Lee?
mudskipper
Correct on all counts, Eve.... John Saxon's other film with Sal Mineo was "Rock Pretty Baby"...Susan Kohner's first feature film was "To Hell And Back"....Unfortunately, "The Big Fisherman", which was also written by Lloyd Douglas, the author of "The Robe", got eclipsed by "Ben-Hur" . But I wish Disney would release it on DVD. It's as much an epic... Your Thread, Eve..

DownGoesFrazier
This is really far afield, but the category is "general trivia". Most people know that Manson and his followers murdered Sharon Tate and her housemates, and Leno Lobianco and his wife. Name another unrelated person (other than the Tate -Lobianco killings) murdered by Manson's followers, who was in the entertainment industry. mudskipper
Thanks,Fi. Next: This movie about the Battle of the Bulge, starred a comedian whose fees for performing in nightclubs rose considerably. During the filming, he repeatedly pleaded with the producer to let his character be killed off early so he can go back on the road and earn more money...The director's reply was "You're in it to the end, soldier."....Who was the comedian and what was the title of the movie ???
