RobertMarshall
Which actors can you think of who were often able, even though not in the leading role, to "steal the show," to some extent, from the star in the lead role? One I can think of is the great Walter Pidgeon. In "Command Decision" (1948), for example, with Clark Gable in the lead role, although Pidgeon's was also a major role. mickeeteeze
Timothy Carey. He may not have "stole" the flicks, as his his parts were usually small. But man, he'd give you a scene with Brando, Dean, Douglas that would blow your socks off!
lidash
Harry Davenport who played the doctor in GWTW and in most all movies of the 40's steals scene after bedside scene. Also agree with Thelma Ritter and want to add Beulah Bondi, Lucile Watson, Fay Bainter, Dame May Whitty,Walter Brennan, and Charles Coburn
ILoveRayMilland
Definitely Thelma Ritter, Dame May Whitty, and Walter Brennen! But the greatest scene stealer of all was.....Bobby Darin! He was the best! For example in "Come September" you could care less what is happening to Rock and Gina, when Bobby comes on the screen! He was just amazing! CineMaven
Thelma Ritter, Eve Arden are masters...bar none as previously mentioned. May I add Joan Davis and Martha Raye to the list. I would also like to add today's Wanda Sykes to that time honored position of scene stealer.
