kas_to
I just loved Jimmy Stewart when I was a kid and have to say he annoys the heck out of me now and the same with John Wayne
lidash
Never liked John Wayne in anything, but loved and still love Jimmy. Still have Jimmy around today in the form of Tom Hanks--who I adore.
markbeckuaf
Actually these are two classic stars who the "color films and MTV style-editing only" crowd can enjoy, surprisingly enough. They seem to be timeless and ageless. Both of them.
skimpole
Stewart would be popular, but Wayne was not simply in the same league as an actor. The belligerent persona, the questionable heroism, the limited range would be more problematic. One thinks of the problems with Mel Gibson's career, or Eastwood's attempts to be more complex and nuanced.
