At archive.org you can watch, download or embed on your website any public domain movie that has been uploaded to the site. There are 1000's of them.

Besides that you can listen, download or embed 1000's of old radio shows.

Plus there is music, educational films and much much more to discover at this site.

I highly recommend it.

Here is the link to go directly to the movies page:

http://www.archive.org/details/moviesandfilms

This is the address for all the feature films, shorts and newsreels:

http://www.archive.org/details/feature_films

You would be surprised what films are actually in the public domain. For example Elia Kazan's *Panic in the Streets* is up there for download:

So if there is a film you want to see, before you buy it, head on over to archive.org and see if it is there.

You can even bookmark stuff and have your own page listing your favorites.

Some of my favorites are watching all the old newsreels and some of the first movie footage done by Thomas Edison after the San Francisco earthquake. Here is a page for all of the clips taken after the quake:

http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=san%20francisco%20earthquake%20AND%20mediatype%3Amovies%20AND%20collection%3Amoviesandfilms

Anyway I hope everyone else here enjoys this site as much as I do.

Hi Kim,

I love archive.org! I was able to download a nice copy of *They Made Me A Criminal* from that site.

Also (and don't laugh at me) lots of East Side Kids, Bobby Breen musicals and films like *War Dogs* which as the Russian reviewer over at imdb said is the Best film about Dogs who fight wars.

Sometimes the prints are not that good but hey it's free! There is also a print of the Bob Hope comedy *My Favorite Brunette* there. There are lots of old serials there too like Flash Gordon. All kinds of things.

Great site.
