Film_Fatale
Hey Frank (& all!) - Did you watch or record *Hollow Triumph* today? It looks like a pretty good noir from Eagle-Lion films, and it was a TCM premiere, too! B-)

Minya
*So where are these tunes? Do I have to go find them, Easter Bunny?* Oh, alright! Hopefully you'll look here before going a-searching. Regretfully, I was unablr to find a good clip for Your Funeral, My Trial. Bummer. FrankGrimes
Bonjour, Mrs. Robert Cummings -- Bonjour, Mrs. Don Murray YUCK, i'd rather be with Rancid. That bad, eh? Does Mr. Stoddard know you love him so? He's still picking the spikes of my cactus rose out of his seat. What are you doing with a cactus rose? Don't you know there are much more beautiful flowers to be found in this big world of ours? Hiya, Coopsy's Clarita -- Oh my gosh!!! That screencap of Walter ?catching? got me so tickled I thought I might have to get up and go to the bathroom to keep from laughing at my desk. I was not even thinking about that when I picked him!! Clearly, I made an appropriate choice. Despite an empty stomach, the Colonel calls a real good game. And yes, Ben Murphy, at his Ben Murphiest, was definitely a star (bloated and gassy ? ha!). Have you seen my patent papers? Did you just take another shot at poor little Lamby? Of course not. I meant the other Grace Kelly, you know, the bad one . The bad one? You mean "naughty" one. There isn't a bad Lamby. Here are somewhat more thorough, albeit snarky answers. When and how did Will and Amy meet? The Love Connection (clearly my game show/reality show knowledge is dated. ?We?ll be back in two minutes and two seconds.?) I used to watch that a lot in the 80s. We'll pay for the date if you want to try this other sap. Was he still with Helen at the time? Yes, but she was just for fun and he was looking for someone more the marrying kind. Is that so? Did Helen begin dating Harvey as a poor substitute for Will? Most definitely yes, and a poor sub it was. Big broad shoulders do not always make the man . I think there's more to it. Will Amy and Will?s marriage last after what they?ve been through? No way Jose!! That all depends... Did Will pick Amy b/c she seemed more like a sort of trophy wife instead of the fiery and independent Helen? Definitely yes. I just don?t see real love between those two, especially not from Amy, but that?s probably just b/c of Grace?s (the bad one?s) emotionless acting. I mean come on woman? You just married Gary Cooper, err, I mean Will Kane. Look at him like you want him not like you're waiting in line at the DMV!!! No!

Bronxgirl48
I'll always be Mrs. Smithy, as well as Mrs. Torquil MacNeil, Mrs. Darcy, Mrs. James McKay, Mrs. Richard Harland, Mrs. Ralph Halloran (we had that simple ceremony, not the catered affair), Mrs. James Blandings, Mr. Tom Doniphon, and yes, Mrs. Dwayne Doberman. I can't give any of them up. Don't let Bruce fool you -- he's really brimming with sensuality and sly humor. No, it's true. Underneath that deceptively bland exterior lies a tiger, in every sense of the word. No oatmeal for me! Hello, Mrs. Doniphon! (thank you for that) We should both consider J.D. Hanley as well. (all that gentlemanly grace, plus cattle!) After all, Schatze doesn't want him. Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48
FrankGrimes
What's up, Minya -- You're a bad seed, all right. Some of those Nick Cave songs are, well... I like three of the four. The only one I'm not keen on is "Loverman." I don't like the heavy chorus. My favorite of the three is "Hard On for Love" followed by "Stagger Lee." "Love Letter" comes as a shock after listening to the other three, but it's a really good song.

I'm glad you liked the rest of the songs-Hard On for Love cracks me up because I swear he delivers it like some old timey-speaking in tongues-preacher, but it's just so great. He ended both shows with Stagger Lee, and seeing that live made me positively shivery with delight. Plus, it's just an amazing song off of one his best albums(which is the same one that Where the Wild Roses Grow is off of). Love Letter is just one of those songs that amazes me-he can come up with some of the most profane lyrics, and then he writes these unbelievably sweet and pretty songs. I was very happy to hear it in concert. Okay, now I'll quit bugging you about listening to Nick Cave.
Bronxgirl48
Can you seriously deny the movie star/hunk status of this man: If you've seen THE MALTESE FALCON once, then I completely ignored the box of raspberry donut holes sitting on my desk at school this evening and they're not in my refrigerator right now waiting for me to rip into their doughy, juicy little bodies. So you're saying that Veronica provides the unconditional love that Raven never had growing up? But he's a sociopath, lol. The only reason he "responds" in any way is because it's Hollywood. (and filmed during WWII) I'd throw Bruce's mother out on her behind, and he'd cheer me.

FrankGrimes
Loverman is one of my favorite tunes, but I think it's one of those 'He's Nick Cave and I'm a girl" type things. It's usually the music and not the lyrics that get to me. I don't always hear the lyrics if the music is good. I really liked "Loverman" until the chorus. I don't like heavy sound and screaming. It's too "white" for me. I'm glad you liked the rest of the songs-Hard On for Love cracks me up because I swear he delivers it like some old timey-speaking in tongues-preacher, but it's just so great. The lyrics didn't do anything for me but the track is great. Love the tone. He ended both shows with Stagger Lee, and seeing that live made me positively shivery with delight. Plus, it's just an amazing song off of one his best albums(which is the same one that Where the Wild Roses Grow is off of). The lyrics in this song are shocking, to say the very least. But I know it's meant to be comical. "Stagger Lee" is like a parody of "Red Right Hand" to me. Love Letter is just one of those songs that amazes me-he can come up with some of the most profane lyrics, and then he writes these unbelievably sweet and pretty songs. I was very happy to hear it in concert. You ain't lyin'. It's absolutely jarring to go from "Stagger Lee" to "Love Letter," which is what I did. But I like both. Okay, now I'll quit bugging you about listening to Nick Cave. You weren't bugging me, Buggy.

Bronxgirl48
Hi, coopsgirl! Like a true dude, I tend to over-idealize farm life, but I guess seeing headless chickens running around is a real wake-up call, lol. Yes, I definitely want to plunge into HIGH NOON! Film_Fatale
> {quote:title=Bronxgirl48 wrote:}{quote} > Might you give us the name of the movie with the heaven/hell quote? Yes I might. It was in Ridley Scott's *1492: Conquest of Paradise*, which isn't a perfect movie by any means but a heck of a lot better than *Christopher Columbus* (the one in which Marlon Brando played Torquemada). As you might remember, both movies were somewhat rushed to production to be released on the 500th anniversary of Columbus' landing in the Americas. Oddly enough, *1492* is to this date not available on DVD, at least not in North America.
FrankGrimes
Frank, I know it's a busy day for you as always, but did you see my earlier question? I have Hollow Triumph (The Scar) as a PD DVD. I started to watch it a few times but I'd always fall asleep to it. I'm most curious about Joan Bennett. The John Alton cinematography alone makes it something quite special to look at! B-)
Bronxgirl48
Thanks! I haven't seen either movie. Marlon as Torquemada, I'm trying to imagine it. You're welcome re: Coop video. I just know Grimes appreciates Gary; he's just too stubborn to admit it.
