FrankGrimes
Howdy, Bronx Blossom -- Are you feeling better? I sense underneath your placid, wise, intuitive, gentle vanilla exterior lies a black flapping Lovecraftian blood-eyed, sharp fanged demon with hellish plans to decimate all enemies and dominate the world. It is seething with unresolved repression and rage, and is lying at the bottom of your soul waiting to be unleashed in all its hideous glory. Why, I couldn't even hurt a fly. I wouldn't know what to do with rage. I'm a peacemaker. I'm boringly simple and plain. To get rid of this monster, watch UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN every four hours. You want me to watch your favorite film of all time? But don't call me in the morning. The night it is. If Frank can't respond in any positive way to Coop, and your great video, I think he's pretty nigh a hopeless case. That was established in the opening scene! the only headless individual you have to worry about chasing you and giving you nightmares and sleepless nights is our very own Pennsylvania Horseman with the Smithy moustache. Legend has it that the Pennsylvania Horseman rides away from cranky, snippy, icy snobs with trashy taste. As for Bruce's mother, I'll actually just turn on my Libra dimpled charm, lol, and she'll melt. Then I'll go in for the kill. You can't melt an iceberg. Trust me, I know. You know what that's like, at either end. So it's the Libra charm that does the trick, eh? Are you sure that's all there is to it? Has there ever been any astrology based on what your sign is and what your parents' signs are? What's your mom's sign? My dad is a Taurus and my mom is a Capricorn. Virgo Your element: Earth Your ruling planets: Mercury Symbol: The Virgin Your stone: Sapphire Life Pursuit: To do the right thing Vibration: Compassionate and caring Virgo's Secret Desire: To love and be loved in return Description: Virgos are often put down badly by many astrologers and written up as being fussy and narrow-minded. But when a Virgo shines, there is practically no sign to match their inner light. An in-tune Virgo is a treat to meet. When a Virgo is confident within themselves they are the most successful, structured and creative of all the signs. Many Virgos can be found working in the "service to others" industries, ranging from welfare work, doctors, school-teachers through to practising natural forms of healing like massage, herbal remedies etc. One of the most magical characteristics of the Virgo is no matter how many times life or romance turns sour on them, they still manage to maintain faith in others, refusing to become cynical. There is ingenuity around this sign, a kind-heartedness, which unfortunately is sometimes played upon by others for their advantage. Virgos can often become victims of relationship power-games, where they are mistreated. Creative and sensitive, Virgos are delicate people who, like rare and special orchids, require individual treatment to fully blossom into their true unique beauty. Shy, they are happy to allow others to take centre-stage and often generate their time and energy into making those they love happy or successful. Virgos are givers and when the chips are down and you need a friend, the one available during those testing times when you need advice or companionship the most, is likely to be a Virgo. Virgos understand human frailties better than most, because they are so deep and reflective themselves. With a Virgo in your life you have someone who understands and cares and any romance or friendship based upon these qualities is certain to be mutually rewarding. Minya
*Can you seriously deny the movie star/hunk status of this man:* My, my! I had no idea that Gary Cooper spent so much time kissing up on all the ladies. For some reason I always pictured him as the lonesome cowboy type. I don't know why. That scene (I'm not that familiar with his movies) where he wipes his hand across his mouth and then reaches back to embrace the woman was my favorite. Smooth. FrankGrimes
I can't help but think that this is directed at me in some way. Despite your liking Jane Austen, you do have some taste, Annie Laurie Starr. You're the only one on the board who mentioned liking Public Enemy. Bronxgirl48
Yog Sathoth! I'm doing well, thank you, except for the heartburn generated by the jelly donut holes. Those things are lethal. Of course you have a psychic need to loose evil upon the world. That's what Dr. Judd thinks, and he's right. But you're in good company with the rest of the human race. "The, uh, key". Oh, I see HIGH NOON is on tonight. I will catch it all the way through, despite Foreman. As Miss G. wisely notes, since Coop is the star, his silent charisma will dominate, and not wordy preachy Carl's dialog. Yes, there is parent-and-child based relationship astrology. Now you know I'm not exactly certain if you've got Capricorn or Aquarius rising (it's definitely one or the other) I'd need to know what your mom and dad's moon signs are to give you an accurate representation of your relationship. Yes, Virgos can be the salt of the earth, but I'm trying to reduce my sodium intake. I wonder if I should reveal my rising sign and moon to you. You could try to guess what they are, that will give you hours of fun. Zeena Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48
Bronxgirl48
Cooper to me on screen always seemed, with his body language, to be incredibly sensual, and I can only imagine the women in his life had nothing to complain about. It's the first time I saw that hand-wiping scene myself. Very potent!

I'm doing well, thank you, except for the heartburn generated by the jelly donut holes. Those things are lethal. Yes, keep them away from me. One equals six. Oh, I see HIGH NOON is on tonight. I will catch it all the way through, despite Foreman. You'll get to see Lamby! As Miss G. wisely notes, since Coop is the star, his silent charisma will dominate, and not wordy preachy Carl's dialog. Charisma? Where? Yes, there is parent-and-child based relationship astrology. Moon signs? Yes, Virgos can be the salt of the earth, but I'm trying to reduce my sodium intake. Wise move. Salt-free is best. But I know you're trying to pull a fast one on me, Lucia. I wonder if I should reveal my rising sign and moon to you. You could try to guess what they are, that will give you hours of fun. I need a refresher! What's the significance of a rising sign and moon again? Of course you have a psychic need to loose evil upon the world. That's what Dr. Judd thinks, and he's right. coopsgirl
The scene in the video where Gary wipes his mouth then kisses Loretta Young is from *Along Came Jones* - it's Theresa's fave scene and it is too cute. Here's one of my fave videos I have made using clips from his silent movie *Doomsday* (1928) and one person recently commented that she needed a cold shower after watching it - that cracked me up b/c it gives me the same feeling . That same person also came back and commented again saying Gary Cooper was so handsome it hurt to watch him - right on girl!!! Frank is just crazy not to see it . I'm glad you're gonna see *High Noon*, he is so spot on perfect in it. He is also super sexy . I dream about him quite a bit (which is so sweet) and he nearly always looks like Will Kane. They are also showing what may be my favorite movie of all time, *Meet John Doe*, just before *HN*. This was the film that got me hooked on Gary, Barbara Stanwyck, and Frank Capra. It's just a flawless film and if you haven't seen it, you should catch it sometime.
FrankGrimes
I'm crazy. You should use period music. BS! You picked the PERFECT song for those clips. Excellent!

This was the film that got me hooked on Gary, Barbara Stanwyck, and Frank Capra. It's just a flawless film and if you haven't seen it, you should catch it sometime. It's also one of my favourite Capra movies ever. But I just wish there was a better version of it around somewhere; the film is in serious need of restoration, imho. The TCM print is a bit weaker than most, and other than that all I've ever seen have been PD versions of dubious quality. If you know of a really good copy available on video, please let me know! I have a whole new appreciation for Gary Cooper (sorry, Grimey). I second the cold shower thought and I also agree with the person who though he had great hands. But, my god-the heat coming off those scenes was ridiculous! This is why some silent movies jazz me so much-when they're done well, you can't help but be impressed by what some actors are able to convey with no dialogue (and these were even better because there weren't even any intertitles). Delicious! I loved the song too.

It looks like it's unavailable-have they ever shown it on TCM? I'm not 100% sure, but I seriously doubt it - it's a Paramount silent, apparently, and as you probably know by now, they don't take very good care of their silent film library. TCM didn't get to show *Wings* until this year, and that's the first movie to win an Oscar for Best Picture. There's always room for hope that TCM might license the movie from Paramount at some point in time, if there are good prints available that they can use for broadcasting. (I know, BIG surprise). Did you get to High Noon? I didn't make it, but how nice that Singleton picked not one but TWO GARY COOPER films. It's almost as if he was here in the torture thread in spirit. Why do I suspect John Singleton _used_ to be one of FrankGrimes favorite directors. :p Message was edited by: MissGoddess
