The Annual FrankGrimes Torture Thread

Well I get a flu shot every year and since I have done so I have yet to get the flu.

Could it be as simple as you're part of that 40% and I'm part of that 60%?

I only point this out because I wouldn't want someone to NOT get a flu shot because of your personal experiences.

I hope that none here are distressed or anxious by the news in Capuchin's post.

This has not been a good month for us in any facet but all the things are transitory and do not affect us in serious or substantial ways.

We are happy even although we are not perfectly well either physically or mentally. ;)

We have been making ordinary little things into grand adventures. We have been spoon-feeding each other smoothies. We hug away moments of misery.

The worst thing of it all is that when Capuchin is truly and deeply feeling ill he becomes like a little boy in that he wishes to play doctor. ;)

I believe we would be miserable and wallow in self-pity and would need sympathy if each of us was alone. It is not horrible because we have each other.

29 for me.

The really good ones for me are

Robin Hood

Bridge On The River Kwai

The Tall Target

Jubal

The African Queen

Plenty of midlevel films that were fine but not great but the most disappointing one on the list is "We're Not Married." I didn't care for "The Fly" but that is more my lack of interest in science fiction.

I leave the guessing to the ladies. They are so much better at it than me.

I can definitely see how those would rate well with you, Movieman.

*Plenty of midlevel films that were fine but not great but the most disappointing one on the list is "We're Not Married."*

:D I'm just impressed by your having seen it.

*I didn't care for "The Fly" but that is more my lack of interest in science fiction.*

I didn't know you weren't that big on sci-fi.

*oh my goodness, that is the longest list...i doubt many here will have watched that many "new" movies in the entire year! it would take me ten.*

:D I'd say of those on this thread, Jackie would be the one who watches "new" movies the most. But I could be wrong. I think Bronxie watches her share of "new," too.

*interestingly, there are several you name that i have never seen or even heard of until now:*

*Blonde Fever*

*Death in the Garden*

*5 Against the House*

*Hot Saturday*

*The Lineup*

*The Longest Day*

*The Moving Image (is this a documentary?)*

*Tomorrow Is Another Day*

*The Longest Day* is the most surprising on your list. I would have figured you would have seen it once. But I do know why you haven't.

*How I liked those I've seen:*

*1. The Lemon Drop Kid*

*2. It Started in Naples*

*3. The Ghost Breakers*

*4. The African Queen*

*5. The Adventures of Robin Hood*

*25. The Rose Tattoo*

*26. Wichita*

*27.We're Not Married!*

*28. Ten Wanted Men*

*29. Good Sam*

*30. The Women*

*31. The Importance of Being Earnest*

*32. Cast a Giant Shadow*

Very good! So you like the comedies the very most. Molo would be proud of you! I'm most surprised by your liking *The Fly* that much. That film doesn't seem to be "you." I'm finding out you like Gary Cooper much more than his films.

*the ten i think you liked best:*

*1. grande illusion*

*2. the lineup*

*3. jubal*

*4. the rose tattoo*

*5. the tall target*

*6. detective story*

*7. footsteps in the fog*

*8. bridge on the river kwai*

*9. crime of passion*

That's some great guessing! My top four are in that group. And two others are in my top ten.

i imagine everyone here has been watching more movies than me, lately. i have watched three complete films in the last month, i'll wager. everything else has been television shows.

i do want to watch *5 against the house* shortly. i keep forgetting i have it and with brian keith and kim novak, it can't be bad. in fact, i should have probably added it to your top ten, too.

as for the comedies, i felt like chris and molo were looking over my shoulder when i put them on top! :D you watched some of my very favorites.

Awful! And you give me heck for mentioning the length of films, Scarlett!

Brian is playing a "William Bendix" character. It's also his film.

That's why I did it, Silly Goose! I've now watched all of the comedies you listed as your favorites on Rey's "Lists" thread.

Several surprises on your list MissG. "The Lemon Drop Kid" is a big surprise. Mostly it's that way from the competetion.

"Branigan" over "Bridge On The River Kwai" is also but that is more my taste than anything else.

i'm not sure what you mean? did you mean the ending of *The Lemon Drop Kid* wasn't to your liking?

ha! I forgot to post my usual disclaimer: these films are ranked according to how i enjoy them, not how i admire or consider their degree of brilliance. *Brannigan* stinks next to *Kwai* in filmworthiness, but if I want to pass the time I'd rather watch it than a heavy, long film like Kwai.

i'm sure you'll find some still much better ones to watch on chris' list, if he made one.

Spoken like a woman!

*then i really must get to it.*

It's not your kind of film. Not at all. But Brian is very good and very interesting.

*i'm sure you'll find some still much better ones to watch on chris' list, if he made one.*

You want me to put Movieman to work? :D Okay. Hey Movieman, what are your all-time favorite comedies? How about 25 of them? They don't have to be in order.

Deafening silence. :D Maybe he's working on his list.

Silence from Camp Molo, too. He's probably sweating since he saw your looooooooooooong list and a certain "Bridge" was on it. Wait! I think I hear whistling in the dark! :D

Miss G:

I guess the second part of your comment answers the first part of mine. With all of the movies of Sir Francis's list that just seemed an odd choice to be at the top. It's been so long since I've seen it I wouldn't remember the end. But I'm guilty of going by reputation rather than how you would enjoy them. I should watch it again then.

Sir Francis:

Give me a day or two but I'll work on a list for you and the others to comment on.

Howdy, Chris. *The Lemon Drop Kid* is my favorite Bob Hope comedy. It may not be the best, but I find it a real tickle.

*I'm surprised The African Queen didn't make it into your top 4. It's got all the things you like.*

Well, it's mighty, mighty close. :)

*I just loved The Lemon Drop Kid when I saw it recently. I was really surprised because I am not a huge Bob Hope fan (I do like him, he's just not my favorite.)*

I can see how you'd like the film. Why? It's a film that utilizes a good supporting cast. They are just as important to the picture as Bob. Maybe even more so.
