Hi Bronxie! Yes, it seemed like in every crime drama or noir Widmark was in they had

to have a "flip out" scene. Robert Ryan was another who got typecast for playing

"unhinged".

One thing Widmark has that I love is the what may be the most sarcastic delivery of

any actor in noir. Even more than Ryan, he seems to personify the "sneer". lol

lol, I don't know! I swear I hear him laughing like that even in movies where he doesn't

laugh like that.

*Have you seen the Grapes of Wrath episode? Brilliance, sheer brilliance!*

Yes, I have and I agree 100%. I can't even remember how I found out about the show, only that I was CRYING with laughter through pretty much every episode. :)

I particularly loved the first episode, becasue I've worked in a bookstore and I've dealt with the type of people who want to buy books to match their furniture. If only, I could have used a bullhorn to shoo them away! I would also like to find a copy of The History Of Screaming. :)

*You make it pretty tempting for me to Rickroll you, but I'm far too polite to do that to you.*

I'm not. :)

Rickrolled

At least, I hope that shows up as a picture. I'm never really sure how that will turn out.

G-o-o-t e-v-e-n-i-n-g, on Hitch's natal day, my pepper-shy crustacean.

Ah, thanks for that Fuller background, that makes sense then.

Not all women shun violence and embrace P&P and UTTS (I can't even spell it out or I'll get heartburn) although I'm sure more do than don't.

I won't talk about hard-wiring or you'll get the wrong idea.

What is a Rickroll? Does Humphrey Bogart pick your pocket when you're asleep in Casablanca?

Yes, I'm full of surprises. Also indigestion. (I had three chocolate biscotti for dessert, but I followed it up with pistachio ice cream and pretzels)

Who are my favorite actresses? Too numerous to mention. I'll throw out some names: Anne Bancroft, Marie Dressler, Jan Sterling, Roz Russell, Gail Russell, Jeanne Crain....I'll have to come back to this.

So what did you think of Kim in MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT? I thought she did fine opposite that acting powerhouse Freddie.

Wish TCM would run SCARLET STREET and WOMAN IN THE WINDOW back to back. Maybe for Edward G. Robinson's b-day,

which I believe comes up in either late November or December. (He's a Sag)

Did you know that kumquats have secret thoughts, like plants?

And they're sensitive, too, so be careful what you say about them.

Everyone: I had two celebrity dreams last night that I'm trying to analyze:

l. Glenn Ford and I are walking down a country road and we see the White House looming up ahead. I'm excited. Then to the side of the White House I see cheap-looking apartments. I tell Glenn that this is where some of the staff live.

2. An older Katherine Hepburn is wearing all black; trendy pencil-thin jeans and a black top. She is inspecting the bottom of the door to my apartment.

I highly recommend it, Rex Harrison is good in it and Margaret Rutherford (spelling?) is absolutely amazing.

*No, I've experienced that quite a few times.*

now who would do such a horrible thing to you gentleman!

*Random Harvest? That's the film where a psychotic serial killer gets away with murder. I can't believe the Code allowed such an ending.*

130-335.jpg

at least my movies dont have psycho maniacs going around killing innocent girls in showers!

*I didn't throw the mittens out. The female mitten put an ocean between the man one, so I had to get another female mitten. Thankfully, this female mitten loves the male mitten. She doesn't wish to rip out his heart.*

dont give me any excuses! and if your mittens loved each other than why did you throw them away!? you broke both of their hearts....and mine!

*I always cry when you lock me out in the cold. It really hurts when I hear you laughing in the warmth.*

i thought that would make you feel better though. heehee! at least you arent shivering.

*It wasn't just Michael who did well.*

you dont think i knew that!! honestly frankie, come now. i have many favorites in swimming, and in the relays as a tram too. its all about team work in the Olympics.......but it doesnt hurt to cheer for your favorites.....holy joe!

*Their floors are full of personality and pizazz. They have such great energy.*

China does a great job in training their gymnasts to have great energy and it is so awesome to watch them go out there and do their best...i love seeing each country do their own thing to their best! The Olympics stand for unity and thats what i love seeing!

*You should try it without the porch light. I bet Shawn does.*

i have actually tried it without the porch light on a few times with only the light from the moon to guide me, but i felt really uncpmfprtable doing it and felt it was unsafe, so i started putting the porch light on.....then when i would get too tired i would go sit on my porch swing and catch my breath. heehee!

Good eve, Trashy -- You make it pretty tempting for me to Rickroll you, but I'm far too polite to do that to you.

I'm not. :)

:P

At least, I hope that shows up as a picture. I'm never really sure how that will turn out.

It turned out. I actually like some Rick Astley songs. Yes, I'm that much of an 80s music wuss.

Hola, Me Little Mermaid -- G-o-o-t e-v-e-n-i-n-g, on Hitch's natal day, my pepper-shy crustacean.

And now it's Alma's b-day!

Ah, thanks for that Fuller background, that makes sense then.

Fuller is a fascinating fella and a helluva director. His films are very male, though.

Not all women shun violence and embrace P&P and UTTS (I can't even spell it out or I'll get heartburn) although I'm sure more do than don't.

I never saw you as a Pride and Prejudice gal, but I have since learned you're a little of this. I still consider you a horror/sci-fi chick, but in the classic sense.

I won't talk about hard-wiring or you'll get the wrong idea.

You have that much faith in me, eh?

What is a Rickroll? Does Humphrey Bogart pick your pocket when you're asleep in Casablanca?

He's looking at you, but his hands are elsewhere.

A "rickroll" is a false lead. It would be like me saying, "check out this Burt Lancaster link" but my link would send you to a clip from Under the Tuscan Sun. Buzzkill.

Yes, I'm full of surprises. Also indigestion. (I had three chocolate biscotti for dessert, but I followed it up with pistachio ice cream and pretzels)

Now I've got indigestion.

Who are my favorite actresses? Too numerous to mention. I'll throw out some names: Anne Bancroft, Marie Dressler, Jan Sterling, Roz Russell, Gail Russell, Jeanne Crain....I'll have to come back to this.

That's a very interesting mix.

Jeanne Crain? CineMaven will like that.

Where are those "lasts" of yours?

So what did you think of Kim in MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT? I thought she did fine opposite that acting powerhouse Freddie.

As always, I taped the film but didn't watch it. I taped quite a few Kim flix.

Wish TCM would run SCARLET STREET and WOMAN IN THE WINDOW back to back. Maybe for Edward G. Robinson's b-day, which I believe comes up in either late November or December. (He's a Sag)

I don't think Scarlet Street has been shown on TCM since I've been following the schedule the past year and a half. The Woman in Window was shown on Joan Bennett's day last August. I think Scarlet Street is a much better film, but many prefer The Woman in the Window. Scarlet Street is darker.

Did you know that kumquats have secret thoughts, like plants?

Plants have secret thoughts? Is this the indigestion talking?

And they're sensitive, too, so be careful what you say about them.

So that's my problem! I'm constantly abusing the feelings of plants.

Howdy, Super Sour Moonbeam! -- Do you know what today/tomorrow is?

now who would do such a horrible thing to you gentleman!

A sneaky dame in long black gloves who likes trashy movies, that's who.

at least my movies dont have psycho maniacs going around killing innocent girls in showers!

Innocent? She was a thief!

dont give me any excuses! and if your mittens loved each other than why did you throw them away!? you broke both of their hearts....and mine!

The girl mitten ripped the heart out of the boy mitten and tossed it into the ocean, where it sank to the bottom. That's not love!

I always cry when you lock me out in the cold. It really hurts when I hear you laughing in the warmth.

i thought that would make you feel better though. heehee! at least you arent shivering.

Oh, I'm shivering. But at least it's only during the night. The worst kind of cold is the all-day ice of...

China does a great job in training their gymnasts to have great energy and it is so awesome to watch them go out there and do their best...i love seeing each country do their own thing to their best! The Olympics stand for unity and thats what i love seeing!

I enjoy seeing the competition. I root for the Americans, but I respect the talent of all. The Chinese gymnasts are exceptional.

i have actually tried it without the porch light on a few times with only the light from the moon to guide me, but i felt really uncpmfprtable doing it and felt it was unsafe, so i started putting the porch light on.....then when i would get too tired i would go sit on my porch swing and catch my breath. heehee!

The porch swing. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh...

BG48:

Computer problems and dreams like that may be a signal of bigger issues. Have a chocolate bar and a movie and see if that helps.

The rest of you have mentioned some British comedies I don't know. "Black Books" is unknown but I have heard but not seen "Father Ted." I guess I need to get busy.

I hope my wild "Chipmunk" and kittens didn't implode your PC, Bronxie!

And I might have known something that cute was "Scottish".

Hey Sis, sorry I haven't talked to you in a while but it?s been crazy with all the work we?re having done in the house. There have been people in our house till about 7 at night the past few days and since the kitchen is torn up we?ve been going out to eat so we?ve been gone most evening. We?re finally done for a while until the countertops and floors come in in two or three more weeks. It?s a mess but it looks real nice and very different. I can?t wait to get it all finished :).

Enjoy your Greer movies!
