Yes Barb, it was an experience I'll never forget. Too bad I didn't have a mask of the head of Anubis or the sacred spells to bring Imhotep back from the dead. Imagine the wonderful architecture he would have created in modern times or even a cure for certain illnesses. Thanks again! I plan to extract more brains and display the canopic jars at home for visitors to open.

How about this cake?

It sounds ridiculous (and it is), but I did a google search on pencil moustaches, and up popped Miss facial hair. I have no idea what the website was. I was actually looking for some dapper dans to post a comparison to Adolphe Menjou on another thread. I can't find the website now....but I knew Mr. Grimes couldn't resist a picture of beautiful Grace.....

Mr. Grimes-

I finally watched There Will Be Blood. I still think that I preferred No Country For Old Men, but I probably would have picked Daniel Day Lewis over Javier Bardem for the Oscar if I had seen it earlier. A very impressive performance. I loved Paul Dano too-such delivery for a kid in his twenties.

I loved how they used the score! I always pay attention to the music in a film and I think I may have to pick this up if it's available.

What is your take on the last line?

What's up, Birthday Girl? How was your party? Any swashbucklers?

I definitely prefer No Country for Old Men more than There Will Be Blood. No Country for Old Men is my favorite film of the decade (granted, I haven't seen much) and it's my favorite Coen film, which actually is saying a lot. Blood Simple, Fargo, and Barton Fink are my next favorites. I really like There Will Be Blood but I don't love it.

but I probably would have picked Daniel Day Lewis over Javier Bardem for the Oscar if I had seen it earlier.

Both won Oscars... and I felt each deserved them. Daniel Day-Lewis' performance was amazing to me. He stayed "in character" of a very complicated character. It's Day-Lewis' performance, the cinematography, direction, and score that I like the very most in There Will Be Blood. I greatly enjoyed the first half of the film but the second half didn't thrill me. I felt the film was "trying too hard" on a Citizen Kane level. Despite my criticisms of the film, I do like it a heckuva lot.

At first, I was bothered by Dano's style but as time has passed, I have grown to really like it. I now agree with you completely.

I'm not that aware of scores unless they strike some sort of chord with me for some damn reason that I have no idea about. For example, I LOVE the simplicity of John Carpenter's scores. But in general, a music score usually goes right by me. I'm usually too focused on the visuals and words to notice the music. My brother is the one with the ear for scores. He owns quite a few scores on CD. Me? Zilch. Well, unless you count Simpsons CDs. :D

What is your take on the last line?

It's clearly a clever curtain closer. I think it has many meanings, but I believe the grand meaning is that he's a finished man. He's done.

OMG, your new cake is going to really give me nightmares, I'm not kidding. That is SCARY. Did you make it, lol? It looks like it's going to come to life any minute.

I don't know what it is about interactive mummifying, but I do find it highly satisfying, like I know you did.
